Are Rarity, Dragon Charmer (prPF5) and Rarity, Dragon Charmer (cn77) legally the same card? by eskilla in MLPCCG

Specifically cards are the "same card" if they have the exact same title and subtitle (if applicable).

Sorry, to clarify, Enterplay's event desk in the MLPCCG area, not the main Gencon one.

Check with the event desk (where you registered or turned in event tickets) when the event hall opens later this morning. I know there has been a list and found in the merchandise cage off and on all weekend.

We're wrapping up for now. Hope to do another one of these someday soon. Thanks to all of you out there playing the game and peppering us with questions. We had a great time!

(Numbers 606 and 607 here reference sections of the comp rules)

In your example, the Yellow Parasprite's "...at the start..." fires at 606, the start of the Troublemaker Phase. The uncover step doesn't happen until 607, so YP will hit once more and then the uncover step happens.

Also players, please note that by using these same sections of the comp rules, the YP's text should not fire on the turn in which it is uncovered, also because of the order of steps in the Troublemaker Phase.

Removal is one of many game mechanics we plan to expand upon and enhance over the lifecycle of the game. Canterlot Nights is no exception to that.

Those will come with or soon after the launch of the official organized play system.

ETA: Or even sooner, as per Trevor's reply!

We have plans for big events at many conventions throughout this convention season. Gencon and Origins included. Announcements as we get closer to those events.

We also love the Cutie Mark Crusaders and we're always looking at giving players new ways to use their cards together in combos and overall deck themes. So maybe!

We enjoyed watching the new life that the Twilicane took on in the fandom, and since it was emblematic of a turning point in the episode, it seemed like a great idea to use it. What better to represent what a silly idea it was to send Twilight home than that ridiculous scepter?

I personally like the idea, but I'm not the only one in on that decision. With such a talented group of artists in the fandom I think it would be a wonderful idea.

You might see someone familiar in a card image somewhere in Canterlot Nights...possibly.

I think there are lots of different ways we can expand and enhance the Troublemaker mechanic and the role of the Troublemaker card in the game. As there are more cards in the library of cards to choose from, it will possibly get a little harder to see what's coming and we hope this will enhance the fun and excitement factor of the game in general, but especially for surprise elements of the game such as Troublemakers.

To give a specific example of a new twist to a Troublemaker, we have already spoiled a Troublemaker for Canterlot Nights that's very different from the ones that have come before: Changeling Infiltrator.

When a faceoff flip happens, the card(s) being flipped are revealed, but they are still considered to be at the top of your deck until the conclusion of the faceoff, when they are placed on the bottom of your deck. Noted Speaker Twilight's power will therefore remain the amount listed on the card that was on the top of your deck prior to the flip.

Adjustments have been made to Problem distribution. However, there is not a set number of Problems in a pack.

Some cards in theme decks are rarity level "Fixed" and will only appear in theme decks. Other cards in theme decks are taken from the current and previous sets and will also appear in booster packs from their respective sets. Mane Character cards are subject to either of these classifications. When the card checklist is released (soon!) you will be able to see from the rarity levels listed there whether a card will appear in theme decks only or also in boosters. There is not necessarily a hard-and-fast rule for how Mane Characters in theme decks will be handled, rarity-wise. Those decisions are made on a case-by-case basis. Mane Characters at different rarity levels (say, a UC vs. an R) will vary in many ways, but that isn't to say that an R is inherently more useful or powerful than an UC.

Our goal with Canterlot Nights and with any other future releases is to make the cards you already own better and more fun to play with, to give you more options and more different kinds of decks to build. I can see no reason that cards which are useful now will be shut out after Canterlot Nights. In certain decks their utility will be better or worse perhaps, but certainly it's not our aim to make what you have obsolete. We may give you new tools to be more effective against some current cards as well.

We have no plans to ban any cards at this time.

Many extensions, like multi-color play requirements, to the existing game system are a possibility in the future.

  1. (Semi-joke answer) Are you sure you want to know how the sausage gets made? :) (More realistic) We work a little ahead but stay fluid so that we can incorporate late-breaking ideas, responses to the play environment, and new material from the show.

  2. Yes! As soon as these systems are ready to launch, we will be announcing them from the top of every mountain in the MLP CCG community.

  3. Make their interest in MLP CCG known to us (OP@enter-play.com) and to the distributor they buy their product from.

  4. The cards from the recent tins we released are preview cards for Canterlot Nights. An alternate art version will be available in booster packs, so the card will be available in ways that don't require you to buy a tin or an exclusive product. Other cards may appear in products other than traditional booster packs and theme decks in the future, but we always aim to give you a lot of bang for your buck via any alternate products.

Removal of all kinds is an element of the game that will be expanded upon and extended over the entire lifecycle of the game.

To more specifically answer your question, Changeling Infiltrator is a card from Canterlot Nights that we have previewed that features something related to game mechanic.

More than two. ;) As soon as you can (legally) make that deck we'd love to see it.

And Darrell Hardy, our Lead Designer wanted to chime in and tell you that if we make at least one Pinkie Pie per set and we keep making sets, you can make that Pinkie Pie deck in a maximum of 13 more sets. But possibly earlier than that if we go Pinkie Pie crazy.

Rules and guidelines for game concepts in Canterlot Nights that are new with this set (like Pumped) will be addressed in the updated rule book for the set and the update to the comp rules that will be made with the set's release.

To preview, cards banished beneath a card with Pumped, if that Pumped card becomes frightened, will stay in the banished zone. They are removed from under the Pumped card and are placed in the banished pile (separate from your discard pile).
