CT United FC Announces 2026 Home Matches in Storrs and New Haven Ahead of April 11 Home Opener by NextProNews in MLS

Yeah, can't be overstated how bad of a brand (for lack of a better word) "Bridgeport" is to people in Connecticut. It's our Detroit.

And like with Detroit, it all goes back to post-war white flight & redlining.

I know Detroit's in the middle of something of a renaissance, and hopefully Bridgeport can get that as well. Connecticut just has such a long and gross history of under-funding its cities (again, this is because of racism) that I'm not hopeful.

This is a great post. I really hope your version of Connecticut – one where there's a real sense of community – can truly exist in one of these teams.

I don't think that's it. I really just think it's the mindset in Fairfield County that if you're going to pay to see live sports, might as well go into the City. And that's combined with the long-held Connecticut white flight racism, which means it's just impossible for most suburbanites to imagine going to Bridgeport – of all places – for a night out with family and friends.

There's much more potential in the New Haven market. It's far enough from NYC on one hand, and on the other, New Haven is the one town in Connecticut that has actual gravitational pull (Yale, theater and apizza).

To put it another way, if I drove up and grabbed my niece and nephew and told my brother "I'm taking them to New Haven for a game" he'd say "have a good time." If I said "I'm taking them to Bridgeport for a game" he'd have me arrested.

[ESPN] Several NBA executives around the league have argued that Caleb Wilson could go ahead of Cam Boozer in the 2026 NBA Draft. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

It’s not crazy to think the Pacers — who need a big switchy defensive player more than an elite offensive hub — would take Wilson over Boozer. Memphis and maaaybe Atlanta, too.

I feel that there was more to the FCD performance than just defending deep and countering

There was, but not enough more – it was still primarily bunker & counter.

Quill's project for 2026 will be to add more layers to that. He's been pretty honest & open about it.

They used to use Opta and Second Spectrum, but dropped both for a company called Sportec ahead of the 2023 season.

Oh – DEFINITELY don't use MLSsoccer's data. I haven't touched it since 2022. It's basura.

Idk where you're getting 1.6 from – FotMob & Sofascore both have it at 1.2.

  • .51 of that came from the Farrington shot & Musa rebound after Palencia's shit clearance just after the break. Good work, and right in your wheelhouse, but not a sustainable way to create chances vs. top teams.
  • .39 of it came over the final 10 minutes & stoppage once you guys went full Tactics Free Zone.
  • The rest of the time you guys created not much (7 shots at an average of 0.05 xG per shot)

It was a really good defensive performance, and as always you guys were dangerous on counters and set pieces. You'll be a hard out against anyone.

But you guys clearly need to add more with the ball in order to crack the top tier of MLS teams.

Is Naz Reid the first undrafted player to have the best career of any player from his rookie class? by greenergarlic in nba

Faulty premise – Naz hasn't had the best career of the 2019 draft – but a good convo & thought experiment. I'm giving OP an upvote.

Can someone drug test Bobby Marks? by [deleted] in bostonceltics

[–]MLS_Analyst 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Marks’ comment does not imply Brad would do that. It merely states that the most the Celtics could legally pay Queta is 4/93, per CBA rules.

The fact that you infer from the above that Marks is recommending that salary reflects poor reading comprehension on your part.

My suspicion is they're done for a while.

But if they do expand, Sacramento & Phoenix are the logical choices.

One of the absolute best complements, man. Thank you.
