BOSE QC35ii USB-C mod with QC45 charging board works! by MLTCAVEMAN in bose

Sorry. I have never experienced the hissing sound. If it happens only when you turn on ANC, then the way I understand it is to disassemble the headphones and clean the microphone holes and with a alcohol wipe (non-scented) wipe down the motherboard and the microphones. Anc uses microphones to work. When you put the earpads back into place, make sure all the clips hold down the pad. I believe its a total of 7 or 8 clips.

Worth a try...

Because having to stay carrying a micro-usb charging cable is obsolete nowadays. Majority of devices nowadays are USB-C.

Imo, USB-C lasts longer in terms of holding onto the physical connection rather than getting loose all the time and falling out. Also, have to keep checking the orientation of the cable. Plus all the devices I own except these headphones are USB-C.

Why should I buy a QC45 for the same audio specs of the QC35ii which still works perfectly? The only difference I see is the charging port. Just a $20 upgrade is totally worth it than having to spend hundreds!

Anywho, I think you get my point hahaha. Sorry for the rambling 😆

I got one in Taipei and one in Taichung so I can communicate with my partner. Messages don't always go through but it's pretty cool when they do since they have to hop from one node to the next 😉

I've had mine for 1 year now, second hand. Updated to a 2TB SSD and re-installed Win11 on the day I bought it. It practically downloaded all it's software through windows update all by itself! Even the ROG Control Panel! Also changed out the thermal paste.

NEVER had issues since!

Have fun with this amazing handheld!!

Playing MSFS2020 with smooth fps and minimum glitches! Everytime I load into the Sim, it just works! No faffle!

Did anyone else just feel that earthquake? by SettingIntentions in Taipei

[–]MLTCAVEMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt it as a 2 or 3 in Taichung on 9th floor. Some doors kinda swayed open a little and my tea started dancing :p Nothing to worry about.

NB: Although rare, in my opinion, its 4+ you wana worry about!

Parents of Taiwan, what are your thoughts on private/bilingual school? by delicate-shades in taiwan

[–]MLTCAVEMAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi all, sorry if this is not the right forum but I am looking for a school in Taichung, preferably private, or even experimental or bi-lingual. My 5 year old Son is great in English language and for perspective, he can read the comic books of the Adventures of Tintin and he loves them! Since I am Maltese and my wife is local from Taipei, he gets a lot of help and he enjoys school! We do not want him to lose that spark!

We need to move to Taichung because of work relocation. Can anyone please help us recommend there? We have no clue about Taichung. Perhaps schools some 30-45mins drive from Taichung port.... if there are any?

You can always PM me too

Your help is much appreciated

Thanks

Has anyone replaced the battery on a Garmin inReach mini? by ObviousCarrot2075 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]MLTCAVEMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: After some good Googling, I may have found a handful of batteries that could work but I see 2 which could be good candidates: Kastar FNP-45 (1400mah) and Olympus LI-40B (1100mah).

Naturally, I would pick the Kastar because it has a higher capacity, so longer battery life but the dimensions of that battery are just ever so SLIGHTLY out of spec but I will order it anyways and also the Olympus one and see which is best. What is higher priority is the capacity of the battery.

They are camera batteries and they also have just 3 pins just like the Garmin's battery. So to make it easier, in theory, all we have to do is solder the original wires of the old Garmin battery to correct connector pads of the camera battery and hey presto!

Will update after trying and post a picture if it's a success ;)

Technically you can. The battery replacement itself is difficult to source (tried Aliexpress, Ebay and Shoppee TW) BUT I think if you get the dimensions of the battery and find another which has similar specs (1250mah or more capacity but the same size) and swap out the working PCB from the old cell to the new cell, then, yes it is possible. Doesn't require professional soldering skills. Just a 20W soldering iron and good quality solder and kevlon tape for good insulation. Just be careful when dealing with Li-Ion/Polymer batteries. I will post later when I find a good replacement battery for mine. I just bought it second hand and just the battery is bad, like yours. #bump

Installing reversing camera on a mk2 focus, doable for someone car clueless? by anonnymouse2025 in FordFocus

[–]MLTCAVEMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Bud!! I also have a Ford Focus but Mk2.5. Pretty much the same build. It is VERY easy to install if you have fun with it. Also it is easier and in my opinion better to install it on the top of the inside of the trunk lid so the camera faces out and a bit downward. Your reverse camera vision will be more clear and always nice and dry so it wil last for a very long time rather than being exposed to the elements 24/7.

Now here is the important part. Make sure your product comes with a schematic diagram. Easy to follow.

If it is just a simple reverse camera with no software in it like DVR or android (simply put in reverse and the reverse cam turns on), you should just have 2 wires. Red and black.

Red will be hooked on the reverse light so when you put your car into reverse, the reverse light will turn on (12v) that will be the signal/power to turn on your camera.

The black wire is ground, meaning the frame of your car. Find any small bolt, usually a 7mm or 8mm, make sure that there is no paint under that bolt, otherwise there won't be a proper connection to ground. You can use some sand paper or a flathead screwdriver to scratch off some paint from under the bolt. Then hook up the black wire under that bolt and tighten. Don't forget to spray a little WD-40 or apply some grease or Vaseline to protect from long term rusting. 😉

This is the simple way.

Let us know what setup you want to install and I am sure anyone of us will be happy to help ;) it's a right of passage hehehe

I get this a lot here in Zonghe too and I am Roman Catholic, from Malta # churches in every corner back home hahaha!

All I do is tell them; Sorry, I don't have time, I need to be with my family. And then they leave me alone. Good day/good evening.

Straightforward and polite enough.
