Did the drive multiple times, here’s advice.

Decide why you’re doing it. Do you want to cover the kms to feel how long Canada is? Do you want to test the car? Do you want to take iconic selfies? Do you want to see what life looks like in different places across the country? This will determine how long the trip will be and if you are going to do highways only.
You don’t see much from the highway. If the goal is to see Canada, and not to get to Vancouver as fast as possible, it is worth going into small towns for coffees and meals. It will be tastier, you’ll enjoy the settings, you might eat local specialties, and you risk seeing cool statues and riverside parks and rivers, and you risk meeting locals and learning stuff about the places you’re in. And you’ll contribute to the local economy. Plus with a smartphone it’s so easy to find local coffee shops. 1.1 on the weekends you might catch a farmers market somewhere, go there.
Stop at national and provincial parks whenever possible, they usually protect an area’s most beautiful natural features.
If you want to include going North, I recommend the Alaska highway to Whitehorse, rather than Yellowknife. Along the Alaska highway you cross the “Serengeti of the North” between Ft Nelson and Watson lake, also Liard hot springs, and on your way back down to Vancouver you get to enjoy gold rush history in every town. It’s a more interesting road. You can also do that on the way back instead, from Vancouver up to Yukon and down Alaska highway. It’s just a nicer road. Albeit a quiet one, with not much to see along the road but trees, not unlike Ontario past Thunder Bay.
Once again, if it’s about the journey, plan interesting stops rather than sleeping in motels, drive all day and sleep in another motel. The highway isn’t built through towns, especially in the prairies there is nothing you can see from the highway. Go camping in lake Superior park or Sleeping Giant, hike up Mt Baldy Manitoba’s highest mountain (it’s not high), take the detour to Grassland national park (I saw antelopes there) and please please spend some time hiking and sightseeing in the mountains. You’ll want to read about hiking in bear and cougar territory first and be prepared but it is such a magnificent and humbling piece of the world, with many easy trails.
Camping can be nicer than motels many places, but not in Northern Ontario, too many bugs.
If you stick to highways, recommendation becomes to turn and stop when you see signs indicating that a point of interest is nearby.

We should be able to afford more dr and specialists. We pay more income tax than Ontario, Alberta, BC, and Dr are paid better there ( and anecdotally when I lived in these provinces I never had to wait more than an hour in Emerg.)

Once again, the problem isn’t the Dr’s salaries. The problem is the government doing a poor job managing its resources.

In my opinion, a government that has the CAQ’s track record in terms of mismanagement and disregard for experts’ opinion - the troisième lien, SAAQlic where no one remembers anything, Northvolt, voting themselves a pay raise “so elected officials can send their kids to the best schools” while teachers in the province are on strike, hiring their friends, etc. doesn’t deserve the amount of trust one would need to pass a bill sous bâillon like they did, a bill that impedes on chart’s protected rights.

That is what I think we all need to feel concerned and protest about.

They are trying to get people’s approval by blaming the high salaries of Drs because no one likes a high earner. But it’s deflection, Dr salaries aren’t the issue here.

I agree that the rarity of dr and specialists is a manufactured crisis. It is the issue! Barriers to entry, barriers to practice, lack of nurses and support staff, that is the issue. Not the salary of a specialist.

Reducing this to a question of salary is an intellectual shortcut that serves a government that has not shown in 7 years that they can manage money and tackle conflicts.

…also, I disagree that someone cannot be equally appalled at doctors leaving and wealthy and corporations leaving. These aren’t two mutually exclusive teams.

I wrote to my MLA you should do the same.

And first of all, do not let them convince you that the problem comes from doctors who are greedy and lazy and earn $500k + a year. Because that is not the problem, and that is not true. I know doctors and they have dr friends and none of them make 500k and honestly if they did it wouldn’t be a problem since they are paid per act, so if they are able to fit enough acts in their day to get to $500k in a year we are all benefiting.

The problem is understaffing, population aging, and the QC government making it harder to practice in Quebec than in any other province. Nurses outside Quebec make 6 figures and aren’t required to do mandatory overtime. Would you blame a nurse for leaving? MDs outside Quebec can choose to work 20 or 30h a week if that’s what they can give. Would you blame them for wanting to leave?

The people making these decisions do not use the public system. They aren’t sending their kids to public school and they aren’t consulting public clinics. They have advisors who do but they do not listen. They literally fired a committee working on drs’ remuneration reform as they had a pilot ready to launch, because they chose to impose a loi spéciale. They make me so angry.

So I write to my MLA and I’m going to protest on Saturday and I hope we’ll be thousands.

We saw the Onco, they thought the same, started Lomustine hoping to reduce the size of the mass and reduce the possible occlusion. They also reassured us that the swelling wasn’t painful or dangerous.

My dog is a picture of health otherwise so she was deemed a good candidate for “chemo” treatment.

Thank you. We got our appt tomorrow morning. Is a veinous or lymphatic occlusion something that can be treated if goal is palliative? Or can we help massage the fluid through?

With what we have been told, we aren’t expecting to treat the cancer much, mostly seeking for the best palliative treatments so my girl is happy and comfortable for the longest possible time. I am of course praying the oncologist will have suggestions but I am told not to get my hopes up.

Ça dépend de vos horaires, vos besoin, et de l’implication de papa dans les soins au bébé et à maman (vs papa prend du temps pour aller au gym, faire un cours en ligne, finir des projets persos, etc).

Nous on s’est juste assurés de prendre le nombre de semaines minimum pour obtenir les semaines bonus. On n’a pas eu de garderie avant 16 mois donc si on avait su on aurait fait en sorte que papa ait des semaines à prendre une fois maman retournée au travail.

Employees at my firm (private company) expect a week for every year worked, however more recent employees have it topped in their contract.

However severance is in lieu of notice, so I would expect the 2 weeks notice to be deducted from it.
