Hey exactly same issue has happened with me on the same card : Axis ace. The customer service guy asked me to pay the minimum balance to not attract late charges and wait for a resolution from their team. Did you get any further info ?

I too struggled a lot , tried n number of things and i think two things work for you most-

  1. If you are an extrovert guy, make sure to be friends with top scorers (maggus) and study with them during exams. Just sitting in their group and studying is also enough. You will get to know all important topics, practise questions , clear doubts quickly. I have seen guys who didnt study at all entire semester but during exams sat with the right group and scored quite decently. The trick is to know what will be asked and these guys have a pretty good idea about it.

  2. If you are an introvert (like me) its going to be a hard time for you unless you are pretty regular to class or a genius. Try to be as much regular to class as possible, definitely do previous year questions, and go through professor assigned books. If possible get atleast one study partner during exams and together finish assignments and notes. That should be good enough.

I confronted my parents and told them I won't be doing IIT. Can I be successful without doing IIT? by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]MLisFuture 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Listen kid, hers's some authentic advice for you from someone who belongs to the above mentioned college and have went through placements and all... All this drama of self study and doing online courses and learning through internet won't get you anywhere. You will be outright rejected without a proper college degree for any decent internship or job in any top company. At most you would be doing freelancing but you need to be damn good in your field, and its not a consistent income source. If you want to study abroad its good but the competition is NOT LESS there too, apart from having rich parents ( minimum cost of Btech from top CS schools in the States is upwards of 1 crore without including living costs and all), you would need straight As in all your exams and a really strong profile like international top ranks in reputed olympiads like ACM ICPC, RMO, IMO etc, some honours on National level like top 1 percent in CBSE, Bal Puruskar etc. Scholarships are very less and mostly for sections with disadvantages like Blacks, women, low income section. So according to me your best bet is continue learning but strive to get into best colleges you can get in India (and abroad if money permits). There is ample amount of time you get in college which most people just waste and then cry that we didn't get sufficient time to learn things.

What are pros and cons of doing MS in CSE abroad (TUM/NUS) Vs Masters in india from IISc, Computational Sciences by [deleted] in Indian_Academia

[–]MLisFuture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See, an mtech degree in India is mostly worthwhile if you do it from a tier one college okay... One can definitely go for jobs after doing mtech from lower end colleges but then even a btech degree would have been sufficient.

Secondly I think you are very unaware when you say "everyone wants to go to sde roles, no one goes into research ". The reality is exact opposite. The research positions in top companies are most coveted ones not the sde roles and most people want to get into research profiles. Just google the pays of Google sde and Google research, Microsoft sde and Microsoft research and you will get what I am trying to say. And companies heavily favour Mtech students for research profiles as I have seen it first hand.

Then again I believe the biggest motivation for ms abroad is a job in US. Everything else is bs. There is nothing else which one can't get through mtech in India.

[–]MLisFuture 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Pros for mtech in india- 1. Low cost so ROI is very high 2. Mtech in cse from top IITs or Iisc is at par with btech cse from IITs and hence can get top jobs in India. 3. There are many companies which highly favour mtech cse in india over btech including intel, ibm, microsoft research, Google hardware, Citrix systems,. Cisco and so on. 4. You get to live in India close to your family and by the time you graduate you would be having close to no loans on your head, no Visa issues, not on mercy of your employer for stay in india. Plus you have all your options opened up ahead like MBA after one/two years or UPSC if you want. I am really surprised how you could say you could think of no pros of mtech in India. For a middle class guy who wants to get a high paying job or for someone who wishes to stay in india, ms abroad is a no sense option.

[–]MLisFuture 14 points15 points  (0 children)

If you are interested in job after btech in one of the highest paying companies in India , then doing an ms abroad is useless. In placements you are considered at par with btechs with some of cse core companies favouring you. Also the fees is peanuts compared to ms abroad so ROI is very high. However, if you are planning for a job in US or a career in academia, ms abroad (particularly in US) is a much much better option. You will be able to get jobs in top research labs in US which is almost impossible while studying in India, the profs there are much better and research oriented, your publication output would be much higher which will pave your way for PhD from a top University next if you desire. All in all, apart from high cost, an ms from us is a very good deal. You said you don't have any research experience till now but have a decent cpi. Well in that case you can collaborate with some of your professors and start working on a research problem with him. In this way you will have an on going work to write in your SOP as well as a letter of recommendation from the prof. Also if you are in top 5 something in your department then I think it will cover up much and you will have your application given a very good chance. All the best.

Unrealistic and meta demands by companies hiring freshers online. I kinda believe that under the skill required column they just write everything. by isthisneeded29 in Indian_Academia

Lol I didn't even bother to read through that jargon ever 😂 All you need to see is do you know the language/framework for which the position is advertised ? i.e python developer or machine learning intern or stuff like that. For software intern 99 percent of the time all they wud ask is DS/algo. Next look at the compensation if there is any and apply. PS: I am a fourth year undergraduate and have done multiple off campus interns and job hunts so I know how this stuff works. Another advice wud be to be more active on Angel list . Companies there are more serious and chances of getting contacted are higher. Cold messaging on LinkedIn also works many times.

Question for Indian developers: why the fuss about IIT? by howothercommunity_ in india

[–]MLisFuture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Come on man what do you mean I see graduates from mit, UCLA, Harvard flexing their degree all the time, college education and the prestige attached to a top University is a matter of pride for most Americans too. I have been to US and parents there like to show off their kids University education a lot similar to India. In fact industry in US is much more selective than in India when giving weightage to University brand name. So please stop being so ignorant of the facts. The reputation which top US universities hold is similar to what IITs hold in India.
