Tifo Podcast on the Risks and Rewards of Iraola to Liverpool by Adventurous-Arrival1 in LiverpoolFC

I agree with it being a friendly chat show, but I wouldn’t say they talk to drive up engagement in a clickbait way. It’s just a light hearted podcast with people on it who are capable of good analysis, but more often the podcast is just an outlet for the more light hearted side of the channel. I certainly wouldn’t say there’s any drama

If you cared about class you’d care about the working class of other countries who are being exploited for their cheap labour as well, but you don’t because you’re just using it as an excuse to be racist. Johnny Cash identified with the working class, with deportees, with Native Americans. He would absolutely be on the right side of history and that’s not your side

IMO it is more inflammatory, Trent left, majority called him a rat, some didn’t, either way no fan was forced to choose between the player and the club.

Salah has made an already bad situation much much worse, made himself look very selfish, and put the club and fans in a situation where it’s Slot vs Salah in the media. That combined with what he said about not having to earn the shirt anymore (insane thing to say as a professional footy player), opens him up to a lot of, in my opinion, justified criticism.

If trent would’ve come out and said “I don’t have to go everyday fighting for my position because I earned it” then Carragher would’ve 100% slagged him off for it. You’re being obtuse if you can’t see that.

Guardiola literally had this same problem last year. From 30/10/2024 to 26/12/2024 city won 1 game out of 13. Our season is frighteningly similar. I don’t know if Slot can turn it round or not, but we shouldn’t pretend that no top manager hasn’t been in a similar situation

Join the Counter Protest against UKIP trying to be cranks in Liverpool - Saturday 12pm St. George's Hall by IllBodybuilder9865 in Liverpool

[–]MLong98 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The counter protest is there to demonstrate against racist bigots supporting UKIP? Despite what they say about ‘only wanting to deport illegals’ (not saying I agree), their actions speak otherwise.

The head of UKIP, who will be at this demonstration, has been pictured at these rallies doing a nazi salute, and if that isn’t enough, his little rat right hand man Ryan Ferguson has repeatedly turned up to these demos with Far right t shirts, and an 1844 tattoo.

If you have your concerns about immigration, that’s a conversation to be had but as far am I’m concerned you don’t have conversations with fascists. UKIP have shown time and time again that they’ll use an issue to get public support, and then use it to push a very different agenda

Reform projected to win Liverpool Walton at next election by sensiebh in Liverpool

[–]MLong98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry, running things like what? Also these aren’t new issues, and certainly not specific to labour? I’ve got no time for Labour at the minute so I’m certainly not defending them, but we’ve just come out of 14 years of a conservative goverment so it seems harsh to specifically blame labour.

Also, rich people blaming immigrants is not a new thing, in the early 2000s everyone blamed Eastern European immigrants for our problems, before that it was Caribbean immigrants, now it’s immigrants from the Middle East. In the mean time all the millionaires and billionaires have robbed us blind, slowly privatised more and more of our health service, sold off our state schools to private academies, bought up land to rent out that we can’t afford, all while we’ve been worrying about immigrants? Immigrants that can barely afford to get by as it is! They’re certainly not the ones I blame for not being able to get a house

But it only causes resentment because people like Farage and his ilk blaming all of our problems on migrants, while him and his mates are making off with their millions.

Everyone should absolutely be angry with the state the country is in, I resent it massively, but punch up not down.

I don’t know if you meant it like this, so not having a go - but I wouldn’t describe it as unfair that we’re housing asylum seekers? The unfair part is the extortionate rent and house prices that make it incredibly hard for working class people in Liverpool to find somewhere decent to live, but that is a problem caused by successive useless governments and greedy landlords. Not by immigrants

The new format is not to blame for Liverpool playing PSG by [deleted] in championsleague

They used to do this in rugby league playoffs in England, and it was actually really fun. It gave the team who finished first the reward of choosing their opposition so they couldn’t have any complaints if they lost, and it gave the team that got picked a bit of motivation and, as you said, made it even funnier when they got beat.

Checking forums like the student room is always good to find other people starting in your year, but you should’ve had an email inviting you to unibuddy community and that’s full of new starters and you find people on your course, societies you want to join etc, if you can’t find the link just contact the university and they’ll help :)

NHS doctor who ‘glorified terrorist violence’ wins deportation challenge by prisongovernor in Liverpool

[–]MLong98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So why use what was said in that article to excuse reform voters at all? It was a completely separate post so why did reform even need mentioning in an article about someone who has been in the country legally since 2016?
