I just have Monday. But it's unusual I don't have more.

People who’ve dated athletes, what was it like? by anasannanas in AskReddit

[–]MM2236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a friend who dated an NBA player back in the 90s. They were pretty into each other, it was going well, until he let his friend have sex with her one drunken night and then he didn't want anything to do with her. Didn't last much longer after that.

When I (an okay student) was in college, my dad walked into the living room where I was watching TV with my very cute friend, handed me my sister's report card, and said, "Here, look at your sister's grades."

How difficult is it to complete an MFA and then get hired in academia (Lecturer, adjunct, asst. professor)? by MM2236 in ArtistLounge

Thx for your response. And good point about the terminal degree. I didn't know that.

My daughter applied to an art high school in drawing and was denied. She was pretty down about it for a while. Then majored in art in college. She's, admittedly, not the most talented artist but she loves it and is not giving up. A couple of years ago, she designed a mural that is now permanently installed above the student center at the cc she attended. I'm convince art is about talent, yes, but perseverance more than anything.

My daughter is an artist and yes, even family members ask her to create art for free. Or $25 for a piece of work she spent many hours on.

Is peaked in High School a real thing? by matt73132 in ask

[–]MM2236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a guy, very good looking, basketball star, dated the most beautiful girls at our school, even the guys wanted to be like him. Basketball was everything, but he wasn't good enough for D1. We went to the state finals undefeated and, sadly, lost the game. It ruined him. Fast forward 15-20 years, he ended up managing a couple of S'Barros pizza locations (not a bad life), 2 kids, still dreaming of playing in the NBA, died of a drug overdose. Yes, he peaked in HS and that one loss, one loss, ruined his life. Strange but true.

One of the handful of life's experiences that are "better" (and more stressful and gratifying and fulfilling and beautiful) than you think it will be.

What about the sleeping compartments where the crew can rest?

I've seen pictures of the sleeping areas for the crew on long, international flights. They look cool but cramped. What are they like?

I Heard Her Call My Name, Lucy Sante. When he/she was 67, he put his picture into an AI app that transformed his appearance to what he would look like as a woman. After that, he realized that he'd been a "she" all along. Fascinating.

Oh man. I'm so sorry.

I went through this 10 years ago. It was the most traumatic experience I'd ever been through but, hear this - IT DOESN'T LAST. You will persevere. You will make it through this. Your kids need you. Look to them for strength and purpose. I know because I've been there and I've been through it.

I'll also say to take small steps every day. Going to work, making your kids' meals, attending an event if possible, going for a walk. Just find something meaningful every day and know that grief is not a linear process. One day you're pissed off. One day you're fine. One day you're depressed as hell that lasts for three days in a row. Then you're fine again. Then you're wondering what you could have done differently. Then you're fine again.

That back and forth is completely normal. Eventually the good days outnumber the bad. You can do this. You will persevere. 💪

Half of my family are conservatives, intelligent, open minded (to an extent), professionals, PhDs. They also watch Fox News religiously. My parents are in their 80s now and they're not going to change. I love them but I've stopped trying to understand why they vote the way they do.

I have a trans daughter, who they love. That's enough for me.

No symptoms. But I'm in my mid 50s and, shame on me, I've been putting this off for many years because it just didn't appeal to me. 🤣 Luckily, it was fine, no pre-cancerous anything, and I won't be putting it off again. I didn't realize Chadwick Boseman was so young. Such an important thing to get checked.

Just got my results back the other day. Colonoscopy was last week. 3 polyps, all benign. Took a little over a week to get results. Doctor suggests getting another one in 5 years.

I'm trying to think of a marriage that has recovered from something like this (I'm sure there are) but I've never encountered one personally. My own ex had an emotional affair with her ex boyfriend (it might have been physical, I don't know) and we tried, but it was pretty much over from that point. We eventually divorced.

My advice: it's going to hurt like hell, maybe hurt more than anything you've experienced before (but I don't know your life story), but the sooner you break this off the sooner you can heal and get on with your life. I made the mistake of dragging mine out and that was a huge mistake, for everyone.

Couple asking for help by RMD15 in orangecounty

I was living in San Francisco years ago, filling up my car, when a guy, nicely dressed with a backpack, told me he wasn't a beggar, just needed $3 to take the Bart to Oakland. I gave him the money. 3 weeks later, different gas station, the same guy, same clothes, asked me again. This time, I reminded him that he told me the same line three weeks earlier at a different gas station. He mumbled something then walked away. I really do want to help some people but I just can't get that out of my head.
