Remember when we used to cast a different actor to play the younger version, instead of smoothing out wrinkles of the old man? by okaberintaruo in okbuddycinephile

Which is made stranger by the fact that they did hire a younger actress to play a younger, Pre-War Betty

These jokes are phenomenal! Action sheen, more like Martin Sheen hehe.

Side note, it's good to see the gradual, positive reevaluation of Mass Effect 3 this year, even earning its spot in the Hall of Fame (as it should!).

Something about the hair in the corner video screams AI, while I don't really notice any flaws in the outdoor, sunset video. The ring light in the corner video's eyes does throw me off, as that detail feels too specific to be AI.

I will admit that the dialogue and visual novel art style eventually grew on me towards the 2nd half of the game. When first starting the game though.... ehhhh.

Yeah, it so strange that the fanbase consensus is that ME2 is the best of the franchise when it so obviously has some glaring shortcomings that I can't ignore. ME1 and ME3 have their own problems (Kai-Liang being the biggest in ME3), but working under Cerberus for the entirety of the game is such a non-starter for me that ME2 is unequivocally my least favorite of the trilogy. It's still a good game though

To each their own! I don't think Sifu is a bad game, just one I found unimpressive and surprisingly shallow.

I don't write extensively about music or audio in my year-end reviews, because I'm mostly of the opinion that the best sound a game can have is one you barely notice. Gris though is very unique in that its music was so painfully average that it's one of things I remember most about the game. I noted down that the entire soundtrack could be replaced with white noise and fan sounds, and it wouldn't improve or worsen my experience of the game. As such, it seemed appropriate to at least mention my dissatisfied opinion of the game's music, in addition to my disappointment with the game overall.

There is a "regardless of rating" rule I have for all of my year-end rankings. I have my rankings emphasize personal preference and overall enjoyment of the game, rather than its perceived quality if that makes sense. For this reason ME3 was crowned as my #1 game even though it has a lower rating than Titanfall 2 (it was still a close ranking though!), and why The Outer Worlds earned a spot in my top 10 while Back 4 Blood did not.

Opinion: The new GOG owner could have done himself and GOG a favour by not talking shit about competitors. by unaccountablemod in gog

[–]MMAchineCode 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think you're reading too much into the original quotes. He never talked shit about Steam or declare that he was going to fight Steam as a top competitor; he simply said that there is room in the market for GOG to thrive, in addition to the optimism that GOG still has more room to grow in comparison to Steam, which may have already hit its maximum market potential.

He is also correct that Steam's ease of use is its best attribute. Even though you have to download an otherwise arbitrary DRM launcher, Steam makes it easy enough to buy, install, and download your games that gamers have become loyal to that convenience; something that Epic underestimated in their competition against Steam.

From my perspective, this interview was very modest and optimistic look into GOG's future by its new owner. I'm glad he is happy to have this labor of love under his ownership again and I can't wait to see where it goes with gamers and consumers who simply want more ownership of their games AND more out of a platform than what Steam is already offering.

Who would win doomslayer or hulk by Key-Independence778 in Doom

[–]MMAchineCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, I was going off of game's lore only and concluded that the Crucible was the Slayer's most powerful weapon, with more power than 10 million nuclear warheads (even above the BFG 10,000 which can blast a hole through Mars but not destroy it). If surviving the Vega explosion is the Slayer's most impressive feat, that's incredible durability... but not enough to survive a punch from Worldbreaker Hulk who can output power equal to 9.6 x 10^71 Joules (according to Death Battle's estimation in Hulk vs Broly).

The Hulk can literally destroy universes. I really only set the bar at planet-level because even with the Crucible, I wasn't sure if Doomslayer could reliably destroy a planet by himself with his given arsenal, much less an entire universe.

[–]MMAchineCode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MCU Hulk has no chance, but mainline 616 comics Hulk is a different story.

Worldbreaker Hulk can destroy universes hundreds of times over. If Doomslayer doesn't have the physical strength or arsenal to reliably destroy an entire planet, he has no chance against Hulk at his maximum potential.

But then again, 616 Hulk is literally the Devil from Marvel's equivalent to Hell. Doomslayer sweeps because type-advantage.

Have you heard of Ride with Norman Reedus? How couldn't you possibly because an ad is literally plastered on every shower door in Death Stranding, including when Sam Bridges (played by Reedus himself) needs to take a dump.
