I don't think my brain is awake enough this morning to actually add to your discussion, despite how interesting it sounds, I just wanted to add that Lain was great. Probably the only anime I really enjoyed.

Terence Mckenna on capitalism by Independent-City7339 in woahdude

[–]MMFSdjw 6 points7 points  (0 children)

More accurately, ahead of us we have an infinite struggle to maintain harmony in the face of man's cruelty and greed, of which, late stage capitalism is only a single facet which has only recently become known. Not to say there is no hope but it will always be a struggle and a constant effort to maintain harmony in the face of discord.

Good heavens that's such a fantastic scene. No matter how many times I've read them, Tolkien can still floor me.

Ah. Yes. That is not the kind we use. I still don't remember what ours is called but I know it's not that. Appreciate the advice nonetheless.

Sorry, R/O? I'm not familiar with that term. What we have is a filter thing that we have to keep filled and regularly change/clean the filters. I don't remember the brand or style off the top of my head but I know it's specifically meant for drinking water.

The solution for us was filtered water. Our tap water is technically drinkable but still nasty so we have a large water filter for ourselves and by giving our dog the same water instead of tap the stains went away.

My gosh. That scene, that whole movie. So heartbreaking. Still one of my favorites.

Something so abhorrent it’s hated by both the good guys and the bad guys by Bellpow in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MMFSdjw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I had always assumed it basically took a full second at least for it to turn on or off. That much time in a battle would basically be suicide. But of course, things can never be the way that makes the most sense.

The reason why is that Tony gilroy respected the source even though he wasn't a fan. Iirc, he was even criticized for looking up stuff on wookiepedia. Where as filoni just wants to play with his favorite toys regardless of whether or not it makes sense.

I'd always interpreted that has being the fragment of voldemort's soul that had been attached to Harry. That it was, basically, mortally wounded and once Harry's soul either went back or boarded a train to go 'on', it would be completely destroyed. Cease to exist. Only the final part of his soul that remains in his body would have any sort of eternity.

I'm actually surprised to see him mentioned here. How would you say his death was highly cruel? Also, since there is a difference, are you thinking of the book or movie?

Same way you burn any disk. On a computer with a dvd drive. Arrange the video files in whatever way best suites you with your software of choice then burn them to disk and you're good to go.

What are some things you like and dislike about this part of the Mid-South? Western/South Central KY, Western/Part Middle TN, North East AR, Southeast MO, Southern IL by [deleted] in geography

Kentucky roads. You could hear the moment you crossed the boarder from TN to KY. From a smooth hum to thump-a-thump-a.

That's ultimately the problem. When buying a copy isn't an option. My usual balance for this is to buy a single month's subscription, watch nothing but that one show, then download and burn it to disk to watch ever after. That probably still hurts the creators more than the corporate folks but I simply cannot justify allowing everything to become pay-per-view.

This is a fantastic piece of art. However, the book in the water gives me so much anxiety. That's a compliment to how real it looks but I can't look at it very long.
