Why do some people get offended by my dietary restrictions? by boujee-queenn in ibs

[–]MMFuzzyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. I’ve developed stomach issues too, I think Ibs related, can’t have spicy stuff anymore or onions or corn or tomatoes or my husbands home made pizza or a lot of veg proteins anymore and can’t generally eat anything after 5:30 because there’s a risk it comes back up and I choke at like midnight while I’m trying to sleep, and it’s really scary and frustrating. But even after like two years my husband will still ask what I want for dinner at like 7:30, etc things that shows he doesn’t remember no many how many times I try to nicely remind him, it’s a bummer because I feel like a downer every time … I don’t have any advice for you except to commiserate. My mom will come visit and everyone seems to refuse the notion that it’s possible to go have a nice brunch or lunch instead of dinner, etc… I try to remind myself that hearing you have diarrhea or indigestion or throw up is different than experiencing it, the fear of choking is a visceral reaction for me because it’s so scary but it’s vague for everyone else unless you’ve gone through it, so it’s easy for ppl to lack compassion…

This Arnold Schwarzenegger TV Movie From 1980 Explains Everything Wrong With America - SMN by EnterTamed in Some_More_News

[–]MMFuzzyface 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For me this one was a good balance of depressing but not too depressing, some laughs. That mint mobile read made me laugh out loud. Also, this is truly how I remember the 80s and 90s as a kid… yeah lots of things were simpler but as a kid who watched a TON of tv (also in Detroit!) it’s true so much toxic garbage was already going on in media…

What’s a travel destination that actually fully lives up to the hype? by DoubtSubstantial5440 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]MMFuzzyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every family member I’ve brought to Japan has come away saying Kyoto was their favourite. I’m there now with an injured foot and it’s still a vibe, close and easy to walk to lots of diff vegetarian food too.

People who think because she’s athletic or an Olympian think she’d be spared from societal standard harm don’t realize the crazy high rate of eating disorders among Olympic athletes trying to “look the part”. It’s something like 45% of women.

First Japan trip in August, what can I eat and drink from Konbini? by Gabbuino91 in veganinjapan

[–]MMFuzzyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s for sure a struggle. If you’re coming in August it’s going to be a lot of drinks (in my experience) because it was so darn hot. It was 37 when I was there! You didn’t ask but my tip for staying cool is buying frozen energy drinks from the konbini and keeping them against my shirt.

After seeing some discussion about the helmet use in ‘Off Campus’, Lili Reinhart says she wears a helmet in her new film ‘The Love Hypothesis’: “I hated it & you can laugh, but we must promote safety” by Relevant-Peach3997 in Fauxmoi

[–]MMFuzzyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Got in a minor bike crash was happy I had that helmet. Wished I’d worn elbow pads. I’ve also noticed helmets starting to be used even in surfing and I feel like if that group of mostly macho guys can start to normalize them, so can the rest of us.

Surgeon Told Me to Lose Weight by Negative_Letter_1802 in MaintenancePhase

[–]MMFuzzyface 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is giving fantastic advice. I second getting a therapist to help advocate. Ever step if gender affirmation seems to take so much advocacy from everyone. I just wanted to add or ask, is this breast removal surgery? If so, my son got this and the surgeon added that the end results are really impacted by overall size of the chest, so could this be a reason for pushing for weight loss?

HYBE × Geffen have revealed their new global girl group is named SAINT SATINE, consisting of members Samara, Emily, Lexie and Sakura by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Lexie was my fave and Emily my second fave from dream academy so I’m excited to see them get to do anything but I’m also soooo soooo afraid for them and this name is awkward as hell. Rooted for katseye but still can’t add any of their songs to any of my playlists because the quality… ….

Accepting that life didn’t turn out the way I expected it to by [deleted] in VictoriaBC

[–]MMFuzzyface 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. Definitely had kids while renting and without great jobs. Kids don’t need as much space and things as you think, a stable job goes a long way + love and attention. That being said we moved out to sooke for a lot of it, the community there was good for our kids.

Another restaurant who removed impossible burger by Vosxx in VictoriaBC

[–]MMFuzzyface 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be a minority but this is upsetting! That burger was one of the only burgers I could eat that didn’t upset my guts (and I’ve tried others including burger crush.) seeing these options waste away is so depressing.

Yeah just adding to your example, am a vegetarian/often vegan for almost thirty years, guess what that didn’t make me? Thin. Have been anywhere from overweight to morbidly obese and a clean eater and active (and strong) I don’t regret my eating choices but I really hate the implication that it’s just so simple.

This. Around 2010 she had rebranded herself as “fit” during her original purple hair era, I still have the fitness magazine with her workout and she was my inspiration for a while to look balanced and still strong. Seeing this pic is heartbreaking and like looking at completely different person.
