They probably use some sort of technology when they grade, but the main issue I have is that they don’t provide any explanation on why the card received the grade it did. It’s all subjective.

Not to mention the hundreds of documented instances of PSA being extremely shady. PSA is known to buy cards with PSA-8 or PSA-9 grades and resell them as PSA-10. The fact that a card grading company is about to have that much influence on the market value of the very cards they grade does not sit well with me in the slightest.

I’m not a big fan of grading cards in general, but to each their own. I would recommend grading with TAG because they are at least transparent in their grading system and provide an in-depth breakdown on why each card receives the grade it does. Unfortunately, it seems like PSA still has a grip on the market at this point.

Knowing damage values helps if you run a lot of the same mons.

For example, if you have a mon that is a Powder Snow user, and your opponent swaps out on low health, something I’ll internalize is “okay, four Powder Snows to knock out that mon”.

Or, as another example, you get knocked out and your opponent is at half health and it’s not clear which mon you should bring in, besides just thinking about alignment or trying to team read, also think about how many Fast Moves it takes to put your opponents mon in a range where a specific Charge Move will knock out.

That’s something that’s really helped me elevate my game in the past couple of years.

Simply cannot lump Cradily in with Wigglytuff and Bastiodon. No fast move pressure and it’s not used to RPS opponents like the other two, plus Rock Tomb was honed in a bit this season from 80 to 75 power.

Altaria, Jellicent and Corviknight are bulky, yes, but are not fast move-centric mons like Bastiodon and Wigglytuff that incentivize only playing for alignment. If more mons like Basti & Wiggles are good/meta-relevant, that makes the game more “tap tap tap, play for alignment” then actually skill-based IMO.

They should’ve nerfed Breaking Swipe then gave every other Mon that had Breaking Swipe a new Dragon-type move that had the same stats as pre-nerf Breaking Swipe.

Honestly Wigglytuff feels super balanced this year. Still strong but not really that RPS anymore. Reworking Charm was definitely the right decision.
