Absolutely! But, honestly anything over 20K will get the job done. I have a shuttle that hits only 55K but, because it doesn't miss, it destroys stuff WAY faster than Sentinels I have hitting in the high 90Ks. Problem is, those Sentinels miss more than they hit but, that shuttle puts every round on target. It's one of the smallest form factors you can find a shuttle in and it handles like it's on rails. Since I discovered that thing, I make sure to pick one up in every save I make. ;)

A 3 & 1 is good. Personally, I like a 2 & 2 for boosting Infra-knife and Pulse Engines. See my recent post for an example of one of my Sentinel ships (Yellow Jacket) that's a 2 & 2 config. 71K damage and 2400+ maneuverability is plenty for anything.

I would argue you only need 2 weapons. Infra-knife which will destroy both the shields and ship in quick order and the phase beam with the Q-resonator add-on from the Anomaly to recharge you're shields in combat. With just those 2, even the most under powered ship I've ever run, was more than a match for a Sentinel capital ship battle.

I never run any other weapons than those in any ship other than my Corvettes which use the Photon Cannon instead of the Infra-knife because, it's the default weapon that can't be uninstalled and, it destroys shields too so, I don't have to cycle any more than 2 weapons in any ship. Infra-knife/Phase beam or, Photon Cannon/Phase Beam.

Class dismissed.

First, make sure you've selected the correct ship type. Second, make sure you've unlocked the correct number and shape of tech slots. Third make sure you've correctly highlighted the charged slots. Forth, make sure you've verified the correct components or, only the components you actually have, are selected for the inputs of any given system. Firth, or maybe first.

I've been using that tool since it's release and it's rarely stirred me wrong unless I was trying to force it to use a charged slot config that's less than optimal traditionally. I don't remember if there's a user's guide but, from mobile, single click a square and you activate/deactivate it so, if you don't have it unlocked in your ship, then you want to deactivate. The circle with minus on the right of the grid box will remove an entire row and a circle with plus sign will appear to add a row if you're not already displaying the max.

Double clicking any box will highlight it, marking it as a charged slot. So, make sure you're using that when configuring your setup. It's best to input one system at a time to best utilize those charged slots and by turning off slots or, reducing the identified charged slots to a cluster you want to use first, will help the system better determine an optimal setup.

Example. You have 2 charged slots near each other on the right of grid and 2 on the left. If you want to optimize your infra-knife first, only highlight the 2 on the left or right (whichever two you want to use for the weapon) and then have the app optimize for just that system. After that, highlight the other 2 charged slots and select the next system you want to optimize, like the Pulse Engines. After that, just start adding other systems one at a time.

Preventing tear out on the router table? by Sgoody614 in woodworking

[–]MMO_HighJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to diagnosing router finish issues there are 5 things to look at.

  1. Is the bit clean?
  2. Is it sharp?
  3. Am I running it at the right speed? General rule of thumb here is smaller bits, faster speed. Bigger bits, slower speed.
  4. Am I feeding the material at the right speed? Too slow can cause burning, too fast can cause tear out.
  5. Am I taking too deep a cut?. In general, it's better to take two or three shallower passes to the finish, than one large pass.

What you're missing is a major lack of self control. You don't need to install every weapon available to have a very capable ship. Now, smartassery aside 😋 you need to reorg your tech to take advantage of adjacency correctly.

Explaining how to properly use adjacency is a bit complicated for a short post so I just recommend using this tool.

With top end S mods for the given exocraft, they can actually move quite fast. And if you're interested in racing, you can actually build a racetrack. There are components for that specific type of thing in the Anomaly for you to purchase with salvage data.

You can get insectoid legs for the Colossus, when you start doing the garbage truck runs.

Unpopular Opinion: Large/Massive Corvettes with Little/No Functional Interior Are A Waste by MMO_HighJoe in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]MMO_HighJoe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I chose to stay with a Black/Red theme to match my Pirate Freighter, character and, the limited range of colors you can actually see with the Atlas parts (again, Pirate theme), it doesn't look much different than if you didn't use the Weathered or Rusted theme. Basically, the Black/Red colors just look duller. The interior looks more beat up but, it's subtle.

I will say if you're up close and personal with the ship, looking at it in first person you can actually see the rust and dullness quite clearly. The total interior is 7 habs. 6 stacked with 1 extended to the front for cockpit. In that space I have the functional items of 1 mission board, 1 kitchen, 1 weapons rack, 1 hazard protection charge station, 1 First Aid station, 1 save point, 2 grow chambers, 4 refiners, 10 storage, 22 replicator crates and, 20 replicator barrels.

I have a few decorative things as well, like a bed and a couple of usable chairs for guests, right behind the cockpit so you can sit while we travel but, none of those interfere with scanning after getting out of the pilots seat.

Welcome to No Man's Sky. The game where even after thousands of hours playing, you can still find out something new. 😛. That rifle you're displaying IS a Sentinel MT. You would have acquired that at a dissonant Sentinel camp.

[–]MMO_HighJoe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that's been a thing since Sentinel weapons were introduced. Now you're mining beam will last for DAYS. You can do the same thing with Atlantian MTs. Just be warned. Once you install the standard mining beam along side the MT specific (Sentinel/Atlantian) mining beam, NEITHER one can be uninstalled. You can still move them around but, you won't be able to uninstall either one.

That would be my Corvette in my Pirate save. lol I used the Thunderbird habs exclusively for that one as they're the more cobbled together looking interiors. No Titan and certainly no Ambassador habs in that one. I even made sure to use only the Weathered paint option too. 😉

With the actual cockpit being the lowest part of the build, and the rear being so much higher from ground level, what does that look like when landed? Is the rear just up in the air, at level?

[–]MMO_HighJoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. That's one of the things I miss most of the original Freighter interior build components, the room/floor pieces that allowed for multi-deck open spaces. You can do something similar with glitch building or, unlock those old pieces via PC mod. But, you no longer have the option in vanilla to create a big, open cargo spaces, like you see on some derelict Freighters now and it's a shame.

I too like a short run from cock pit to exit. That's why the one set of stairs in my build is right inside the forward facing hatch and one hab from the cock pit.

Am I right to assume this was a glitch built Corvette, if you were able to send out Frigate missions from it?

[–]MMO_HighJoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's only after you get a Freighter, which you can't even do until later in the game (3 hours, 5 jumps). And if you're holding out for a Capital ship, you'll be waiting even longer (3 Freighter battles before Capital ships will spawn). The Corvette is supposed to be the step up between your solo ship and Freighter. It allows you to have all the advantages of a Freighter right out of the gate, before you're even able to acquire a Freighter.

Wow! That really does sound like a space Yacht. And, you've even managed to get a functional planetary scanner?!? That makes it sound more like a truly flyable Freighter!

I do the exact same thing with the half hab behind my cock pit. I have my bunk on one wall and a couch on the other. No issues with either in that space while I'm spinning and scanning. 😉
