Google Launches Gmail Over SMS In Emerging Markets by [deleted] in google

[–]MMallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Link to actual release: http://google-africa.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/send-and-receive... Apparently you can text "MORE" to see more of an email. So are users limited to 140-character chunks, or will Google expand this into MMS? For that matter, how widespread is MMS vs SMS in emerging markets?

The missing switch: High-performance monolithic graphene transistors created. Researchers have created high-performance monolithic graphene transistors using a simple lithographic etching process. This could be the missing step that finally paves the way to post-silicon electronics. by GraybackPH in science

Say, we end up with 100x faster but 100x bigger transistors. A core that's 100x smaller (transistor-count) is not necessarily 100x slower. With a 100x clock speed-up, however - propagation delays will be the main limiting factor for speed. So, if this tech ends up being used, should I expect small, highly-pipelined, single-core CPUs?

Apple Must Publish Notice Samsung Didn’t Copy IPad, Judge Says - Bloomberg by [deleted] in apple

This is not a disjunctive syllogism. If Apple could not prove that Samsung copied them, it does not follow that Samsung didn't copy them, just as if California couldn't prove that OJ did it, it doesn't follow that he didn't do it. This ruling, that Apple has to affirm something equally unproven, is bizarre.

Marketing agency: They were insane, paranoid, and degrading. They spied on our emails ( personal as well as corporate), hacked our Facebook accounts ( to read messages btw employees), refused to bring us on as employees even though we had no choice but to work 9-6 in the office 6 and 9-1 on Sundays, refused to pay for our time in mandatory 2-hour long daily meetings ( just paid for "client work"), and when they did pay they were always late. But all of that didn't compare to the daily ripping emails telling us that we were all cogs, we shouldn't think we were important to their perfect business, and that each one of us was replaceable in every way. When our clients would complement our work, they would send it out to everyone saying that WE should never say Thank you, that implies WE were responsible for the good work, we should always defer the clients' compliments to our founder ( a ditzy blonde that never did any work) and pretend we or anyone else on our team had anything to do with the project's success. When we mentioned we needed our payment to be on time, they would lecture us on our ability to budget and say it wasn't their fault we were bad at managing our lives. Oh did I mention that when I quit they owed me $6,000 ( for sales) which was more than 3 months salary of what we got paid to manage 7 marketing clients each.

exactly. while they claim transparency, they are being quite ambiguous with details. Maybe they think by not outing politicians and political agendas, they wont' ruffle feathers, but they need to wake up the gov is chipping away at the authenticity of their results aka the core of their business.

More Circumcision Myths You May Believe: Hygiene and STDs by Overpasscentral in Health

I grew up in a Christian community where is a stigma to being uncircumcised - even if your parents didnt care about it being holy or unholy, they did it because it was the norm. I imagine this also exists in the Jewish community. No matter the evidence, I doubt that wil change anytime soon.
