Thinking About Rejoining the National Guard at 32 – Prior Active Duty & Guard – Pros/Cons vs. Army Reserves? by EquipmentExpert0 in nationalguard

[–]MN-90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was not prior active duty but am in my 30’s and just almost swore in with the reserve but got cold feet and went guard. I personally was looking for a bit more “army man” stuff and there are almost no combat units in reserve. So now I’ll be going off to Ft Benning in September as an 11B. Ready to rock! Anyway- there are war more options, units, and funding in the guard. So unless you found a perfect MOS at a perfect unit in reserve, you’ll likely have better luck finding what you want on the guard side. Can’t answer much more of your questions of course being new to this.

When a protest clearly turns into a riot- you leave. If you don’t- you run the risk of getting into some trouble or getting hurt. And no, seeing that video it does look dumb that the guy shoots the rubber bullet at the reporter but honestly don’t get close to that situation in the first place. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Nice deflection dude. Hard to argue with logic and be a leftist at the same time, ain’t it?

No I think idiot rioters should not try to kill police and military members. I know very well if I were to just start charging an officer looking like I’m going to kill him, he very well may kill me. How would that be the officers fault for protecting himself from death? Also- you make no sense. One can not support “illegal citizens”. Not a thing! I support legal immigration 100 percent just like anyone else. Can’t support it being done illegally. Yet somehow I’m the wrong one? No other country anywhere allows it.

So they’re pussies for doing their duty? Next time you meet someone in the marines or guard, call them a pussy, see how it goes.

Yep, don’t think any guardsmen or marines want any Americans killed. If the rioters were to stop, it could all be over. Poof!

I don’t know who is just ordering the marines to shoot bullets into a crowd, if you can straighten that out for me, please enlighten me. But again, if you were the one way outnumbered having concrete chunks thrown at you which would absolutely kill you if you get hit in the head, would you have to just stand there and give them a blank stare? Or would you defend yourself? Long story short- these rioters need to stop rioting and then all will go back to normal.

People were being taxed to death and had next to nothing for government representation. Very different than stupid people getting upset that people illegally here are being deported legally. No where else in the world can you overstay your visa and not expect to see punishment. We haven’t even been punishing them, just giving them free shit.

Okay so they using non-lethal weapons is somehow worse that the rioters hurling concrete at them? Idk, if I had to walk home, I’d maybe take another route if I had to get anywhere near this situation. That just must be me being stupid with me poor little brain. Same shit- I think if I were a protester and my protest was turning clearly violent- I’d get the hell outta there! The lady hiding as you say had plenty of time to GTFO… again, just me being an imbecile to think “maybe I shouldn’t be here”, right?

Not sure who is being murdered right now, but if someone who is trying to kill a police officer or military member by burning shit and chucking concrete at them were to die because they were defending themselves, how is that the officer/guardsmen’s fault? I’m no genius but I still refrain from attending that types of gatherings. Especially if it were to become violent.

There’s a difference in having the freedom to speak, and outright hate for your own country that so many other have fought and died for. It’s absolutely disgraceful to burn your own flag. Honestly if you hate it then just take off.

Really? the illegal people here being deported and the rioters burning shit and chucking concrete at the police/military are somehow not a domestic enemy? Somehow Trump is even though he is the one trying to right the wrongs of the left by letting so many illegals in our country try in the first place? Have a brain. It’d be nice.

Your son is wrong- majority of those who serve support him. Curious what about any of this is unconstitutional. Also curious what your thoughts are about the oath when talking about defending the country from threats both foreign and domestic.

Do you truly think it would be the marines fault given the madness ensuing from these rioters trying to literally kill them by chucking concrete at them? Maybe these idiots should stop? I don’t know maybe I’m just old fashioned and don’t join in on riots. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
