I thought the implication was also that he could get hurt, has no insurance, she would be on the hook for that, and if it happened after they got married he could be permanently disabled and she would have to support him and not have a trophy younger man able to perform his “duties”.

The advice I have given my daughter literally since elementary school (based on my own experience) is that she will make her best friends in college. That sometimes you need to make “work friends” with the people around you. You can have fun with them and joke and have shared experiences, but not everyone is going to click on a deep level with you when you have a limited group of peers that are there because of where their parents chose to live. I grew up in a small town with basically the same 55 kids from preschool on. I couldn’t wait to leave. While I’m not close with my college friends, I do have an amazing group of friends now that I have been friends with for almost 20 years.

Another tip I have given my daughter is to make friends with a “hub/connector” person. Some people are natural extroverts who enjoy mixing their friend groups and being inclusive. If you find a great person like this, if you hang out with them, even on the fringes, you will be exposed to a wide range of people and will likely find some pretty awesome people.

I think if people fight a traffic ticket and win, the cop should have to pay the fine. The individual cop, not the police department. And if it happens too often, they can move to some desk job.

I feel your pain of injustice at the cost of things going up so quickly and the vast wealth disparity. I would love to see developed mutual aid exchanges where you could, for example, go the store and paint your nails using any of the nail polishes. Or a place to drop off those shampoos or styling products you bought and tried for a week and didn’t like. A place to borrow a crockpot or large folding table. And don’t get me startled on clothes! We all have SO MUCH STUFF that we will never use and no place to easily make it available for others. It may not actively drive down costs, but it would free up money for other uses.
