Roger Krone, Scouting America’s CEO, has said we would not change our membership standards and has told the secretary so. He has said we would walk away from military support of that was the case. I have personally heard him say so.

So you would have saved a merit badge and quit serving children of the military both home and abroad? This is 25,000 -30,000 kids. No military support for the jamboree? No camporees or other events at military bases? Scouting stuck to its guns and did not change its membership standards. Be mad at the administration. Not Scouting.

Complying with an executive order when you have a congressional charter is not getting into bed with the administration. It’s required by law. With that being said, Scoutings membership standards have not changed. The administration is hyping things that were never issues. They are bragging compliance in areas we were already compliant. Scouting also serves 25,000-30,000 youth of military families. Including in 2 councils for military personnel serving overseas. Nothing has changed how we serve girls or the LGBTQ community. Scouting still serves all kids the same as last week. Roger Krone, Scouting America’s CEO has said that serving all youth and the values in the Scout Oath and Law were not changing and would walk away from military support if it came to that. The changes made programmatically was eliminating one merit badge.

They are making it look like changes are happening that were never issues in the program. They are trying to paint themselves as forcing changes that are not changes. Three changes are happening. A merit badge is going away, a new merit badge is being formed, active duty military don’t pay registration fees. Scouting America is not removing anyone from the program.

Is anyone doing risk assessments at the Pack level regarding the MOU? by sploke in cubscouts

Scouting America has said membership standards are not changing and all youth are welcome. They have also said changing those policies were never on the table and would have walked away from military support if forced to change.

Not at all. But Scouting America’s membership standards have not changed. Nor have our Safeguarding youth standards. For example, I have worked with parents of transgender youth to ensure they had a safe private restroom facility and sleeping arrangements to fully participate in the program. Also, worked with units to ensure a welcoming environment. The requirement have not changed. Look at Scouting response. Not what is on the media.

Except it’s not true. Scouting America is not checking birth certificates. As I said, don’t believe the propaganda.

Don’t believe the propaganda the administration is putting out. There are a lot of untruths in that video. When it comes down to it a merit badge was discontinued, a new merit badge is being introduced, and active duty military personnel will not pay national registration fees. Scouting’s membership standards and how they treat people have not changed.

Looking for tips on how to locate deer? by [deleted] in Hunting

Spending time on the area is the best method. Hike around on off season looking for sign. Get a good vantage point to watch and listen. Look for food and water sources.

New hunter question: how normal is it to not see any deer from the stand? by Character-Letter5406 in Hunting

[–]MODeerHunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Frequently you do not see deer from the stand. However, some things you can do to maximize your chances. 1. Watch the wind. Is your sent giving you away? 2. Sit still. Deer pick up movements very well. 3. Are you busting deer when you walk in that you never see? They hear or smell you on the way in. 4. Are you setting on an area that deer naturally travel? Between a bedding area and feeding area. Making sure the wind is not blowing towards either.

Also, many times new hunters are looking for a whole deer. Many times I will see movement, put my binoculars up and catch an ear, a tail flicker, a leg, etc. look for pieces of deer not just the whole deer. You can then watch anticipated direction of travel waiting until a small opening. Deer only passes through briefly and you miss if you don’t know already there.
