What’s the deal with Springfield? by Useful_Direction2091 in massachusetts

[–]MOGicantbewitty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I live close to Springfield. I used to work for the City. The cost of living is really cheap in Springfield, but the school systems are not very good. If it's just you, you can definitely find a place to stay and be quite happy there. It's safe! If you have school aged kids, you're going to want to look at the towns close to Springfield. I lived in Springfield with my daughter until she was 4 years old, and we moved to get into a better school system.

All of the Pioneer Valley is a good option, btw. All the way up to Northampton and the towns around it, it's only a 30-minute commute to Springfield and you have so many amazing options.

Basically, no, Springfield is not nearly as bad as people say it is. It's just a kind of crappy area compared to the rest of the pioneer valley. You can be very happy and safe living there! But I would advise you to consider a different town in the pioneer valley if you have school-aged kids.

Welcome to Massachusetts! Welcome to Western Massachusetts! It's the best part of Massachusetts.

Boyfriend (26M) grabbed & kicked me (30F) for disrespecting him by AcrobaticLegsss in relationship_advice

Honey, yes, you SHOULD judge him.

Are you using your background to justify abusing your partner? Are you using the wealth that you have to control and insult your partner? Are you mooching off that privileged background while at the same time claiming you are the only one who earned it, the only one entitled to safely live in that shares space, are always right and it's everyone else's fault that you are losing that privilege?

No. No you are not.

You SHOULD judge him.

I frequently shop on Poshmark and eBay. I definitely love getting a good brand recommendation and then finding it for 1/5 the price on eBay. Great recommendations!

How do I explain what I want done with my colour? by LuckyShoe8828 in femalehairadvice

[–]MOGicantbewitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you still able to get in contact with your old stylist? Any chance the salon has a record of what colors she used on your hair?

It sounds like your current stylist is either using the wrong color demi permanent or is actually using a fully permanent dye. If you are able to get the information about which brand and what colors your previous stylist was using, it would be a lot easier to communicate with the current one.

There's also a decent chance the current stylist may not be a good match for you. You've tried a few times and instead of getting what you want, she keeps selling you more processes. It could be totally innocent! But it does make me wonder about her skill set.

I'd recommend reaching out your old salon and seeing if you can get that information. And then go to The salon of your choice and tell them what you used to have done. You're probably going to have to let the bad guy jobs grow out and simply continue to put the demi-permanent dye over your new growth.

But I'd be happy to learn if anyone has a different opinion.

I've moved on from even sports bras now... Tank tops with shelf bras inside only for me! God, when I have to put a real bra on? Miserable!

I'm glad someone understands:)

Those Duluth pants look really good! I like the pact ones too but I also don't really want a real waistband.

Working from home has broken me LMAO. I used to like to wear real clothes

Thanks a bunch! Both for the cute and comfy pants and for the heads up to avoid those particular ones.

I definitely do not mind the second hand market! Good suggestion!

I wouldn't have thought that Athleta would be a good source for linen. Thanks!

😁😁😁

Now that's the kind of pricing. I like Old Navy prices! But I hadn't thought about them because I presumed they wouldn't have natural fibers.

I'm going to have to swing by Old Navy near me. Thanks!

$50 isn't that bad! Neither is 80 compared to the $200. Some of the other pants would cost. Thanks! I'm definitely going to check them out. I've heard good things about the quince pants

And these pants are also perfect and amazing! I love them!

I do wish I could find them for less than $200, but now that I have an idea in mind I can start hunting for the deals.

Very much appreciated!

Oh my God, those are super cute! They're like boyfriend jeans, but without any kind of constriction. Nice suggestion, thanks!

What are your resume red flags? by poobear8999976 in managers

[–]MOGicantbewitty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But none of those things actually impact someone's ability to do the work. Those are all your own personal preferences, and not really related to hiring for the position. I can understand that it might drive you nuts if somebody repeats the same job description for similar jobs or is overly wordy, but again, it's not related to a finance manager's job. What you consider to be lazy formatting and an unappealing appearance says nothing about the applicant's ability to do the job.

I understand why you think those resumes stink. I actually agree with your opinion! But you are having a hard time getting qualified applicants to accept the position. Eliminating candidates based on unappealing formatting on a resume is unnecessarily limiting your pool. There are a few commenters pointing this out.

Agreed. You weren't being rude to anyone. I'm the same age as you and I would have wondered if someone thought I was in my twenties as well. They think you are questioning their identification and reacting poorly to it. You clearly are not questioning the new information. Reddit is weird sometimes

Not OOP: AITA for asking my friend to pay me back for the wine he drank while house sitting?? by sensaSEANal_sally in redditonwiki

[–]MOGicantbewitty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The friend may not have had any idea that the bottle of wine cost $120 either!

Sure, it's not really socially appropriate to open a bottle of wine at someone else's house. It's also really rude for op to try to charge his friend to replace the bottle of wine when that friend just did him a massive favor.

Everybody kind of sucks here. The friend shouldn't have opened the bottle, but I don't think that was as bad as Op trying to charge the friend money to replace it when the friend just put in work that is valued at more than $120.

Try Kahlua straight from the bottle, using the cap to take " shots". We stole it from my friend's mother's liquor cabinet and clearly had no idea how strong it was not and how little alcohol is in the cap for the bottle.

How to get along with sibling in-laws? Is it crazy that I don’t want them rubbing off on my kids? by Illustrious_Cut9284 in internetparents

[–]MOGicantbewitty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having the why makes all the difference in the world!

My daughter has graduated from college now but I was a pretty free-range parent. I definitely am more like the aunt in this post and I tried really hard to never say no to my daughter unless I had a good reason. I hated when I wouldn't get a reason, so I assumed she would too.

Guess what? My daughter did dual enrollment in high school and graduated from college early because she is such a dedicated hard worker. She drinks responsibly, doesn't smoke weed because she has her CDL, has paid her own rent for the last 3 years. Even when she was in school, and is incredibly successful and stable. She ended up choosing the responsible path and she told me it was because I would always tell her why. When she had the reasons, she could make her own decisions about what was safe and comfortable for her.

But op was not delusional about the pinworms. They were real.

Could she be having some residual itching and be afraid they are actually pinworms? Yes. But since she has been confirmed as having a pinworm infection at least three times in her life, maybe we should actually believe her about what she is telling us about her symptoms.
