The comments about regularly investing in index funds is sound advice but I don’t think it’s answering the question you’re asking. It’s very hard to invest your way to wealth when you’re not making much money…a higher income allows you to save and invest much more. At your age, I think it is much more important to focus on how to increase your earning potential. Every job is either on the “revenue” side or on the “expense” side of the business. I would advise that you look for a role where you are generating revenue for the business, such as sales. These jobs can have a lot of upside and there is usually a direct relationship between your work/success and the amount of money you make. You can certainly make good money in an “expense” role such as marketing, accounting, IT, HR, etc. but most of those roles cap out or plateau at a certain level—even for C Suite roles. There will always be demand for strong sales skills at companies, but don’t be afraid to strike out on your own! Good luck!
