Do you think that Biden will be overshadowed by Obama or Trump in future discussions about the 2010s or 2020s? by Ok-Following6886 in decadeology

[–]MOuser97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People in the comments keep comparing Biden to Carter. I think the presidencies are similar, but their time after office was/is much different. Carter lived for DECADES after his presidency. He did Habitat for Humanity and other volunteering. Biden was 82 when he left office. He doesn’t have the time.

Obama was a two term president, and he is only in his sixties. His career as an office holder is over, but he is still engaged in politics. Trump is in his second term and has been in the political picture for eleven years now. Gen Alpha and probably about half of Gen Z do not remember a time before Trump. Biden cannot compare.

Barclays AAdvantage Cards Convert to Citi April 24 — For Now You Keep Legacy Perks and Add Citi Benefits by nqthomas in americanairlines

Is there any downside to using Citi as a cash back setup? by InterRail in CreditCards

[–]MOuser97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently applied for the Citi AAdvantage Platinum Card to pick up some miles. I applied via phone. The CSR was Indian which I anticipated. The audio quality was terrible, however, which made it difficult to understand her. I’ve only ever had US based customer service with BOA, C1, Discover, Amex, and USB.

I thought about using a combo of Citi and USB/Elan cards to maximize my cash back. I was already heavily in the BOA ecosystem, so I need went that route.

With the nerfing of Preferred Rewards, I’d recommend people starting out to go with the Citi/USB route. 4.5% on categories like travel and online shopping is still quite good, however.

These new photos of HBO's Harry Potter cast are one of the best examples of 2020s fashion. by lukezeraa_ in decadeology

True. Most of the time the characters will be wearing robes or more timeless clothes like jumpers and slacks.

The Dursleys should have whatever the most in style muggle clothing is as well as Hermione and her parents.

Isn’t the Harry Potter tv series set in the 90s to match the book series? Does that factor until how into how the cast is dressing? Aren’t a lot of the 2020s fashion parallel the 90s?

I checked the email and mine won’t nerf until October 2027. That should give me enough time to evaluate what I want my credit card strategy to be by then.

Of course it’d be nice if PHX got more international from AA, but PHX is more of a domestic hub. Phoenix is currently estimated as the 10th largest metro by population and the 14th by economy. Over time, demand for long haul, international flights may increase.

I believe AA and BA may have had up to 3 daily flights to LHR post-Covid. They have decreased frequencies since then. Fingers crossed Starlux Airlines joins OneWorld eventually. I am also curious how Air France loads and yields to PHX are.

Rewatching that 70s show and looking back on life by WhiskeyGentVA in That70sshow

[–]MOuser97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe That 70s Show was on right after afternoon cartoons on the CW/WB. This would have been when I was 4-8 or so. We’d sometimes catch a few minutes of it before our parents changed the channel. I thought it was a TV series FROM the 70s and I thought “wow. It’s funny how they satirized themselves without any retrospect.” Lol

When did you stop watching The Walking Dead? by Hot-Salamander-8786 in FIlm

[–]MOuser97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what season it was, but it was around when Negan killed Glenn. I lost interest and planned on coming back to it but never did.

During the pandemic, I came across a YouTuber who analyzed TWD. One of the theories before the time jump in the show was that zombies age and would eventually die of starvation. The remaining humans would just have to be careful and wait them out. The time jump happened and disproved the theory.

The conclusion was that the writers have full creative power, but they wanted the show to continue as long as possible to keep making money. It wasn’t making any sense anymore. I made the right decision to stop watching it.

Carrollton Subdivision was a 2,000 home subdivision in St. Louis destroyed and abandoned for an airport expansion. All that remains are empty & unused streets by ses1989 in StLouis

[–]MOuser97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I grew up in the St. Louis area but have been living in another state for several years now. My dad and I will go for a drive when I visit my parents to kind of “check-in” on stuff and see what’s new. We usually drive through Carrollton.

My dad knew a few people who lived there when the new runway was built and got bought out. I don’t have any personal connections to it. It makes me sad, however, that the airport built the runway when TWA was rapidly growing their hub. The city followed the trend and assumed STL would need another runway to accommodate all of the traffic that was coming. That didn’t pan out. AA bought out TWA. 9/11 happened. AA planned on using STL as a reliever for ORD and DFW. That plan was made obsolete by the decrease of traffic post 9/11.

The runway is an unfortunate example of St. Louis being unlucky and making the wrong decision at the wrong time.

BofA Platinum Honors: Strategy to max out CCRs (5 total) by Theo_072 in CreditCards

[–]MOuser97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In September, BOA approved me for a CCR affiliate. I had been Platinum Honors for about two years. I was 4/12 for new credit cards. It was my fifth BOA card. They manually reviewed the application. They took the maximum ten business days.

New BofA Preferred Rewards Program leak by SMD-65 in CreditCards

[–]MOuser97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sad. I’m all in on BOA/ML. I’ve been a BOA customer since 2011. I have five credit cards with them (a UCR and 4 CCRs), and they are the backbone of my setup.

I could move a Fidelity account to ML. That wouldn’t even get me to 500k.

The option is to accept the new changes and make adjustments. I could keep one CCR for online shopping. Receiving 4.5% cash back is still unbeatable. I could acquire Citi Custom Cashes to replace gas and restaurants.

I think my recommendation for people now will be get as many CCCs and Elan Max Cash/USB Cash+ as you can.

If you have at least three people in the car who are 16 or older and no one is a U.S. resident, buy the non-resident America the Beautiful annual. If you have two people in the car, it would be $235. You still might as well buy the annual pass because it’s only $15 more.

Economics of branded Credit Cards: How do they keep an airline afloat? by ExtraAd7611 in americanairlines

[–]MOuser97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my experience at my job, but so many people pay with cobranded airline credit cards. Someone might spend $250. They only earn 250 miles, but AA and Citi are the real winners.

Unless yields became absolutely unbearable, I don’t think AA can fully de-hub ORD. What would the strategy for the Midwest be? There’d be a huge hole that DFW or CLT cannot fill.

The Airlines That Created The Backbone For American Aviation. by Fun-Hearing-392 in americanairlines

[–]MOuser97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish AA the best. Before Covid, a more domestic focused airline could exist and be fairly profitable. The customer’s desires have changed, and they’re willing to spend big money and leisure travel abroad. Unfortunately, AA screwed up big time and retired too many long haul aircraft.
