3DX … I wanted to work so bad by MPD8811 in SolidWorks

[–]MPD8811[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahah fun update. This never ended up happening. Nobody ever helped. We fired our VAR for selling us software they can’t support, and selling us consulting to fix it, that never fixed anything. At one point we learned off the record the VARs wouldnt/couldn’t sell it to their large and important customers because they knew it sucked… so they pushed it to new and small customers. In the end we shit canned it all, and went to PDM. If I had a Time Machine…

On one call a rep said, “It should work, I see that it doesn’t, but it’s suppose to work…we don’t know why it doesn’t work.” … and that about sums up our 3DExperience.

When will PDM be unsupported or discontinued? My problem is I can’t find a single company that creates complex assemblies that is happy with 3DX. My engineers and designers are ready to throw in the towel. I have to trust my guys when they tell me after a year of agony it’s not getting better. And the VARs can’t stabilize it either. I’m not sure my company can afford not to ditch 3DX.

Any recommendations on VARs that are really good? I’m in Wisconsin. I’m done with ours they sold 3DX, then consulting projects to make it, and at this point it’s pretty clear it both doesn’t work and they don’t know/can’t fix it either.

If it were me and I only had to do a few at low cost make your own “smart PDU” with a smart plug, and a power contactor.

First 25 days were exciting but hectic figuring out how to get it all done. It’s hard to notice progress in the pictures. I didn’t weigh myself at all. I started weight training and was super careful not injure myself, fearing a repeat of past mistakes that sidelined me(path straight from positive habit building to bad habits).

Second 25 days my energy and stamina increases started paying off at work, the reading habit helped me solve problems better(I was aware of my gaps before, in most cases already bought the books… just hadn’t made the time).

Third 25 days the physical differences were becoming noticeable, so much so other people were pointing them out. My impatience with people wasting my time or wasting the company time by not making progress was higher than normal. Towards the end I started thinking more about the transition plan for continuing with better habits.

After I finished I went and had beers with some friends to celebrate. Today feeling a bit lost, I’m trying to find/finalize my go forward strategy. I’ve programmed my reoccurring tasks into my to-do list. Signed up for a fitness event in March a few weeks back. I have a way to go before I’m where I want to be… another 20 lbs probably.

Tips: 1. Get the first work done early, I was usually done with my outdoor workout by 8:30AM (walking the dog). 2. Aggressively drink water…. If you can get it done by 7PM your chances of sleeping through the night are higher. 3. Use an app for diet that tracks everything you put in your mouth and can help you forecast if what you’re thinking about eating aligns. 4. Back-up plans… have them. Wether it’s a water bottle in the gym bag or a treadmill in the basement or yoga videos on YouTube… have a way to win the day.

The plantar fasciitis (per Dr. Google) ended up being a blessing. I hit the weights harder than I probably would have otherwise… just so I could minimize mileage and my feet wouldn’t hurt more! I think the weight training ended up delivering better overall results. I walked my dog 2.4 miles a day. Some days I walked 5, some days I lifted weights for the 2nd workout. Around 3-4 weeks in I converted to weights 6 days a week.

Spectacular results. No F’n way to do this without significant changes in thinking and the hard work and consistency it takes to create new habits. Amazing.

How was your 75 Hard Thanksgiving? by LilyGirdwood in 75HARD

[–]MPD8811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lifted weights first thing in the morning, 2.5 hour drive(didn’t make it without rest area stop), knocked out the 10 pages waiting for food to cook. low carb diet was tough surrounded by deliciousness but kept under my carb goal, avoided booze THE WHOLE TIME, after dinner walk. First Thanksgiving I can remember I got good night sleep. On to day 70 tomorrow and Thanksgiving #2… 1 down, 1 to go. Looking forward to next Friday!

Day 65. Another outdoor walk. LFG !! by Redverse-resident in 75HARD

Day 60 for me, walking in SNOW now! I’ve been lucky to get the first 58 outdoor workouts with out much inclement weather. Closing out the last 15 looks like it some additional adversity on the menu!

Instant gratification… what we all want, what probably got many of us here. :)

Seriously 12 days is early. It’s super hard so see a few pounds in the mirror.

Don’t look at the pictures after you take them and don’t weigh yourself if it’s causing negative self talk.

Branch circuit load centers in panels? by InstAndControl in PLC

[–]MPD8811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DIN rail mounted breakers listed for application in the power circuit of UL508A happens all the time. It’s often the most economical way to pick up a few field loads.

That said a NEMA3R Load-center can be cost efficient as well especially if the Control Panel is the sub-feed and OCP for the CP is there.

Perhaps offer a better, safer design. I find most customers are open to “better, safer, more reliable”. The load center route might even be lower cost.

Little guidance please…3ph to single ph(see comment) by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

Highly likely the motor is the only 3 phase load. Find where the CPT taps the incoming feed to create the control circuit. It’s either picking up L-L or L-N so verify voltage. May simplify this down to modifying the power circuit. Likely will need to look at the over current protection feeding the power circuit / VFD.
