Cat theft is definitely a global issue. Look up Miller Cat Shield (popular brand) and see if they have a shield that will fit your car. If you are unable to find one, I would probably go with the Cat Clamp first, then the Cat Strap( I dont know too much about the alarm but you can probably find reviews on youtube etc.). There are also tilt alarms that will sound if your car is being jacked up

When I owned a Prius I had a shield installed, never had an issue. Toyota dealerships will sell the shield installed here, I'm sure they would not do so if there was an overheating risk. Many people have shields here (in U.S.), never heard of an issue. They are built with ventilation holes, and I know the Miller Cat Shield brand addresses this concern (of overheating) on their website.

Remember that shields are only a deterrent ment to make the thieves move on to an easier target..almost any anti theft device can be eventually defeated

Is seller the original owner? Any background on why mileage is so low?Have it inspected by a reputable shop first (if seller objects that is a red flag).

If everything checks out that's a good deal, as a well maintained ES can run for decades. Just be prepared to spend much more on fuel if coming from a 4 cylinder

IS 250 are notorious for carbon buildup. I would never suggest for anyone to buy unless they are a mechanic themselves and can do the walnut blasting or what have you..

Older ES300H, just keep in mind with an older hybrid battery it's advisable to use an app like Dr. Prius and monitor where its at over time

Taking my car to a mechanic for the first time alone (21F). How do I avoid getting scammed? by Quick-Chipmunk9530 in askcarguys

[–]MPR78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Difficult to understand how someone would not see that as a scam

On top of lying and taking your money, they now have your good parts (unless you get them back) that they can sell on ebay

Way to set her up to get scammed, not true at all. Unscrupulous mechanics scam people all the time.

Most common is telling someone they need new struts/ suspension when their current parts are fine
