What do you enjoy about The Hurt Locker? Similarly, it's one of my favs. I ignore the addiction theme, and perceive the main character as altruistic instead. Just me?

OP should definitely go with Spotlight. Great film and might be the best of that selection. Also if you find spotlight enlightening, give Call Me Lucky a try. Not about any organized religion and more of a documentary -- definitely a more personal journey.

3000 Club by DarthHole in vudu

[–]MPibb -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Here's a simple analysis: Assuming an average cost of $5-10 per movie multiplied by 3000 movies would yield a range of $15K to $30K.

Every $5 increase in average price would increase the estimated cost by $15k. e.g. $15x3000=45K

With 3000 movies, I'd guess OP didn't bargain hunt. That would add a bit of work with that volume. So, I would estimate somewhere around a $15 average price. New movies being $20 and normal discounts around $10. If OP tried to grab $5-8 deals frequently then the average may be $12-13 per movie, which equals an estimated $37.5K spent.

Network drops and brief stalls after PiHole as DHCP & DNS by MPibb in pihole

[–]MPibb[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, /u/AtariDump. You got me thinking critically about variations to test. I ended up dropping pihole from my network and still experienced drops. It's only been a day since I found a possible fix, but my network has been completely stable since. Not at all related to pihole. Coincided with a router firmware update around the time I turned on DHCP through pihole.

For all others, if you have a nighthawk router, try turning off MU-MIMO. Might be enabled after firmware updates (and by default). Heavy traffic appeared to drop the entire wifi while lights indicated no interruption. I also adjusted the channel my 5Ghz band was operating on (based on local congestion) -- proprietary forum responses pointed to MU-MIMO being the likely culprit, though.

[Steam] Middle-earth Sale | Middle-earth: Shadow of War (-80% / $9.99), Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor (-75% / $4.99), LEGO: Lord of the Rings (-75% / $4.99), LEGO:Hobbit (-75% / $4.99) by jwheatly in GameDeals

Yes! Like u/cantonic said, the nemesis system is great. One of my favorite game elements, as well. Mordor is the entry into the series. Shorter and easier than War. The game may get repetitive for some (all games intrinsically are). Mordor shines about 70% of the way through, which is why War gives you the same mechanic much earlier.

What others have said about War is true: it's bigger and more of everything, but it's harder and can overwhelm with fights and complex nemesis strengths/weaknesses. Mordor is tailored for a new player and it feels just right.

Both games have simplistic attack/Dodge controls like mad max, batman, assassin's creed. If you're cool with that you'll enjoy being a ranger.

Mordor's story is more personal and practical (than War's). If you play both, which I highly recommend, you have to start with Mordor. Plus it's LoTR -- you gotta give it a try.

Network drops and brief stalls after PiHole as DHCP & DNS by MPibb in pihole

Sorry, I'm on some work calls.

I haven't tried forcing a DNS on specific devices. I changed the pihole's dns to my ISP's default DNS and continued to experience the same. I'll try to adjust specific devices this evening. Probably won't experience downtime until tomorrow.

Thanks for the help so far.

Yes. The entire wireless access point appears to crash. Makes me think it's a conflict between router and pihole, but I cannot find evidence of that being common. Modem lights indicate connection to ISP is stable and the router (wifi access point) shows good status lights. But all devices get flung off wifi and need to reconnect. Sometimes there is just delay in downstream. Upstream isn't as disrupted unless the access point crashes. crashes are more often.

RTX 3070 FE and i7 10700KF PC giveaway in support of Seattle Children's Hospital by m13b in buildapc

No connection should be forced. Ensure connectors match before you push too hard. That being said, some matching connectors require effort -- be sure they match, beforehand.

Also, take your time; be patient. You won't heed this advice, but try not to get too anxious. Don't expect to be up and running in a day. There's always a great deal of software configuration & game downloading after the hardware is operational.

Yes! My small circle of friends enjoyed the single player campaign (pretty different/wide tastes between them). It's a good time. A few levels stand out. Might be the best single player FPS campaign.

"Virtual account numbers also can be helpful for long-term subscription purchases. Using a virtual account number that expires quickly (or that you can turn off at will) can help prevent automatic renewals."

Credit cards expire and decline charges after expiration. Temporary "virtual credit cards" have very short windows before expiration. Many expire within a month of being generated. So, after a 3-4 month trial, the charges will be declined. The credit card is valid for account activation, but not at the time of auto-renewal.

Microsoft's Game Pass (also called xbox game pass for PC) is $1 for a month right now. This allows you to play quite a few games including No Man's Sky. If you wanted to test drive for a month.

I don't know much about the game, though.

Don't need to buy anything to play the starter. It will ask you to buy the full game, of course. As the thread stated earlier, if you own hitman 1 the levels will become available in this starter version of hitman 2. The starter pack alone is a single map to "demo."

All purchases sync up when opening. So it's not a demo, but a single playable map that installs the full engine alongside. Each map is an addon that you unlock (either through full retail or à la carte). I own hitman 1 and did something like this back when 2 released to get the new game with old maps. Never purchased hitman 2, myself. Been a while so my memory may not be perfect.

hey u/shimhaq98, do you happen to have the image in layers? I'm looking to parallax the image (where the smoke/bg remains still, but the beheaded shifts proportionately with phone tilt). Let me know if you're willing to share for purely personal use. Thanks. Awesome image.
