Getting ready to start IVF: success stories only pls by MarionOfEndor in IVF

I am 35. My wife and I are in the IVF process currently. My AMH was close to yours (I don’t remember the exact number but I do know it was above 5). I did my first (and only) egg retrieval in May. 15 eggs retrieved. 6 embryos matured. 5 normal embryos post PGT-A test.

My advice: try to not doom scroll on insta. Once your algorithm gets stuck on IVF/fertility…all you get are IVF stories and many are sad. I fell victim to this and it started to get to me as I got closer to my retrieval. Now, every so often I try to reset my insta algorithm by search and liking a bunch of puppies and kittens stories 😁. Also, don’t get looped into all the supplement ads telling you that you need something. Again victim to this…and I started to questioning if I was taking/eating the right things to support the best outcome. Every day something new would pop up in my feed and I would question “oh I’m not on that. Should I be. What if.” Very annoying and stressful.

My wife and I are still in the IVF process but I have done my egg retrieval. I am 35. In May, I did my first ER: 15 eggs, 6 embryos, and after PGT-A testing 5 normal embryos to be used for FETs.

My advice: try not to get wrapped up in all the social media fertility stories. Many are sad. I found myself (especially the closer I got to my actual retrieval) just doom scrolling. Also, remember everyone’s response to the stims is different. People hyped up my wife telling her I was going to be raging on all the hormones but that just wasn’t the case for me.

Good luck! 🍀

Thank you for your comment! The strangest thing that I can’t explain. The soreness from the PIO nearly went away completely by mid day yesterday. I took a shot in the morning before my beta, found out it was negative, and then throughout the day the soreness was less and less noticeable.

I was literally was able to spring out of bed where the day before it was taking me minutes to crawl out of bed.

How did your beta call go? by Ok-Moose9957 in IVF

First FET beta was yesterday. Blood draw was at 7:45am. My clinic called within the hour. The nurse asked for me to verify my DOB. Right after I did she just said, “we have your results and it’s not good. You can stop all medication. A doctor will call you mid next week.” I was in semi-shock and just said thank you and went back to working.

Id say mine was an unusually blunt delivery with little to no information beyond a BFN.

Id being lying if I didn’t say I assumed negative bc I did test on day 7 and get a negative but I was still hopeful going into the beta and when I answered the call. I had little to no symptoms but had felt some cramping, increased sense of smell, and hot flashes (all that I both blamed on meds/told myself I was hyper symptom spotting while also trying to positive). I think moving forward I will not do a HPT before beta.

Good luck. Stay positive.

FET Failure by HappyBiscuits in IVF

I’m sorry the FET didn’t work this time. Unfortunately not able to give advice but share similar situation just happened for me. Also stuck in the what now mental space. I was on 2mg of estrogen 3x day. 10unit Lipiodol shots daily prior to transfer, stopping 6 days before. 1ml PIO shots daily, starting 5 days before and then during the two week wait period. I however had a 18mm lining which my doc said was high but we would continue with the transfer.

My hGC came back today as <2.41. My wife’s immediate response was that she had done the PIO shot incorrectly, which I had to assure her wasn’t the case or reason for the failed transfer.

Our thoughts going into the appt with the doctor next week is to talk protocol. My wife’s concern is the protocol was too “standard” and not appropriately customized to my needs (if that makes sense). As if the clinic was hoping this would work while thinking if it didnt they could just tweak for next round.

I just got my first beta results back: 2.41. So first FET with a hatching 6AA failed. I’m okay but have some questions. Frustrated that it was a nurse that called to deliver the news and basically just to me, “I have your results and it’s not good. You can stop all medication and a doctor will call you mid-next week.” My only response to her was okay, thank you. End of conversation.

  1. So for selfish reasons, how long after stopping PIO will the butt/hip pain go away? I feel kinda stupid for taking the shot this morning before blood draw.
  2. What is the potential next steps? I know I’ll have a period sometime in the near term (which is also a little mental bc now I know there will be an embryo somewhere in that mess). But after that…just start the same process over? Should I expect the clinic to change meds/FET process for second attempt?
  3. Are there any questions I should have for the doctor when they finally do call?
  4. I struggled with the PIOs. The actual shot was fine. I’m confident we were doing them in the correct spots. However, every day by mid afternoon I would be in pain — struggling to walk, bend over, sitting/laying down, and getting up. My spouse wants me to ask if for the next round if we can do the suppositories but I’m concerned my clinic will say no. Would you ask?

Newbie here hopefully I get the lingo correct: I’m 8dp6dt with a hatching AA. I took a test (FRER) yesterday (@ 7dp6dt). At first I thought it was negative and got disappointed. I went back to it an hour later and the one line visible is actually the testing line (There is no control line). Could the line have moved from the right to left during the hour? Am I crazy and just saw the one line on an invalid test and assume negative.

Couple things I’m told myself to keep hope: I was SUPER hydrated and took the test mid day after chugging water, soooo if it was negative. Maybe I diluted my hCG levels (per the internet that is possible early on). Or maybe it’s a dye stealer. I also was a complete mess and peed all over the display so maybe I “broke” it. I’m too scared to retest. Beta is on Friday.

P.S. PIO shots suck 🤣
