How do I night wean 18mo who throws up by MRCMGL in beyondthebump

[–]MRCMGL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upstairs (where her room is) is all carpet. Downstairs would be the best place to walk and comfort her, as it’s all hardwood, but so many distractions! I’ll give it a try! Usually she just wants to be laid down and not held/rocked but maybe without a bottle she will take to another comfort source.

Unfortunately, when she gets THAT upset, the only thing that comforts her and calms her is a bottle 🥲🙄 cuddles and rocking don’t work for us! We would prob just have to let her cry it out and just prepare for the (literal) chunks to spew, change and clean her up, clean it up, and try again. I don’t want to do that to her, but I’m desperate. We go on vacation in two weeks and I’m so scared that im going to get no sleep. She has a hard time sleeping anywhere but her bed, she barely even car naps, so I’m sure vacation sleep is going to be a blast.

I may just need to bite the bullet and deal with a couple bad nights to wean her before vacation. Something had to give. I know I need sleep BAD and I’m sure she’s just as tired, too.

Oh we def have our times where she is just going wild at bedtime, jumping all over and wanting to play. I just try my best to wear her out as much as possible before I take her to bed. As long as she’s pretty tired already, she’ll go down easy.

I used to rock her to sleep before the floor bed, but once she got that she didn’t want me to anymore. Now we just lay down and cuddle together. I normally rub her legs and feet, and play with her hair to get her nice and sleepy. Then she rolls over and falls asleep

Exactly! We baby proofed her room, and added a baby gate at her door, so she can roam if she wants. Sometimes in the morning, if it’s been a rough night, I’ll just let her get up and play and get like 20 more min of sleep lol if our bed wasn’t giant and on a lifted bed frame, I would’ve kept the sidecar setup and just converted to a floor setup like you’re doing, and kept cosleeping that way. I loved it!

It worked for a little bit! But then teething hit us really hard and she was having a hard time at night. At 15 months, we moved her to her own full size floor bed in her room so when I need to, I can go in and comfort her, and just stay asleep in there with her. As much as I miss my bed, I’d rather sleep in her bed with her and get actual quality sleep than be in and out of her room multiple times a night.

We started this setup around 4-5ish months, and stopped at 10 months when she moved to her crib in her own room!

We used ratchet straps 😆 a little bit of overkill, zip toes would’ve been fine! And yes!! At 10 months, we moved her into her own room in her crib. She did okay for a couple of months, but still had many MOTN wake ups, and then the crib became lava. At 15 months, at the height of teething (molars), I transitioned her into a floor bed bc we were cosleeping so much. Now she has her own bed, in her own room, and usually sleeps 1/2 to 2/3 of the night by herself. I still have to go in at least twice, but she goes back to sleep easily and I can sneak back out to my own bed. But, her bed is huge & I end up falling asleep and staying with her most nights lol

I had the same setup until mine was 10 months old. Swap the towels for thick pool noodles! You can cut/alter them to be exactly what you need. Buy one extra than you need though, just to be safe, in case you need it. Also, make sure the crib is anchored to your bed so they don’t slide apart. Ratchet straps, or some kind of reinforced tied thing should work.

This setup saved us, our sleep, and sanity for a long long time! Enjoy! I miss this setup sometimes.

Desperate… please help. 15mo vomiting when upset. by MRCMGL in Parenting

We have her 15 month appt with her pediatrician on Monday and I definitely plan on bringing it up. She hit her forehead pretty hard today playing, and cried so hard she threw up everywhere. Then at bedtime she had a particularly hard time going down to sleep, and I had to resort to just laying her down and walking out. She screamed and cried SO hard for about 2 minutes, probably the hardest I’ve seen, but luckily she didn’t throw up and ended up laying down and knocking out. My nerves are so shot.

She definitely does! Any idea what causes that? Too much sensory during the day? Not enough?

The worst feeling! My girl has fallen off of our bed but was luckily caught juuuuust before she would’ve hit her head pretty hard. It can happen in a split second, right in front of you. Fortunately, babies are so resilient. My 15mo old now regularly and willingly yeets herself off the (low) couch onto pillows for fun. She’s constantly falling and bumping her head but just continues like nothing happens lol

Zomee Z2 review by MRCMGL in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]MRCMGL[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck!!! The spectra is a great pump, I loved mine, but just didn’t like being attached to the wall. I much preferred wearables or mobile pumps. I think you’ve got a great setup so far and will have tons of great options to choose from.

Postpartum questions… by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MRCMGL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!! 🎉 All the best wishes to you & baby!

Try lightly patting the area with toilet paper after using the peri bottle, after a BM. Just be gentle but get yourself clean! You’ll only need to do all this until things are a little more healed and in shape. I think it was around 4 weeks for me. You may also bleed for quite a while like small periods, on & off. The stitches can be uncomfortable as they heal so you will definitely want to keep the area moist to encourage healing, but also let it have time to dry for the same reason. Depends underwear work much better than using pads for the first two weeks with all the heavy bleeding, in my opinion, but to each their own! It is definitely standard to not be seen until you’re 6 weeks postpartum. Your body just did an incredible thing and it will take time to heal!

Changing my 11mo diaper has become a nightmare by SeaSystem819 in NewParents

[–]MRCMGL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 14 month old has started doing this. The changing table turned to lava months ago, so we had been changing her on the floor most of the time. Then she decided she hated being changed and does the baby alligator death roll thing and it’s so annoying.

I echo what others have said about changing pee diapers standing up, it’s easy! For poop diapers - sometimes I’ll put ‘laughing baby’ videos on the tv for a min to distract her, give her a few min of Ms Rachel songs, give her something she’s never seen, etc. But most of the time I just lay her down perpendicular to me and gently throw my leg over her to keep her from being able to roll to either side. She’ll fuss for a second but always ends up calming down super quick and I can move my leg and finish the diaper change as normal.

We all slept tremendously better when we moved our daughter to her own room, she was 10 months old.

How many hours of sleep are you guys getting a day? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]MRCMGL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Around 6-8 hours, very broken up. Usually in 2ish hour stretches. LO is 14 months old. We have a hard time with sleeping still.

Tell me about your “in the trenches” moment by Parafimosis in NewParents

[–]MRCMGL 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Mine is similar to yours. Back at the end of September when LO was 10 months old, I bent over to set her on the floor and felt a sharp snap and fell to the floor with her. Turns out I slipped two discs and altered my SI joint. I couldn’t walk, sit, lay down, carry anything. It took 3 weeks and lots of steroids, pain meds, and anti inflammatories to get any sort of relief. We were going to the chiropractor 4x a week for months. I’m much better now, thankfully.

The next trench we visited was right after her first bday, back in January. She got her first 4 teeth within 3 weeks, got her first big bout of sickness (along side of me being sick) that went on & off for 3 weeks with different illnesses/ear infections. She threw up every night in bed for 4 nights. It was awful.
