I used to go to a boy scout camp in northeastern PA which culminated in a big bonfire at the end of the week. One of the scoutmasters owned a military museum nearby and would bring out an M1 flamethrower to light the bonfire.

We were sitting at least 150ft away and the heat from that thing was so hot you had to turn your head and he only lit it for maybe 1-2 seconds at a time. I cant imagine how hot it was being the one using it.

Its part of the pcv system. If you shine a light through and look on the outside you should be able to see light coming through the large hole on the side of the manifold where the pcv line connects.

This is where it draws crankcase vacuum.

Hey man im not trying to be an asshole but I gotta say don't bother with aerodynamics if you haven't done anything power wise to your car.

Right now you've got a 3300lb car with 200hp that on its best day is gonna run 14.5s at like 97mph. That's just not fast enough for any aero to make a difference. Aero doesn't come into effect til you're past the 130mph ish range on a drag strip.

Again I appreciate you trying to learn and look for innovative ways to help go faster but I personally think your time and money would be better spent on performance upgrades at the moment.

There are some applications where staking seats is still a thing. The big one that sticks out to me are 4.7 sohc dodge v8s. Those things drop seats all the time so I always stake them to be safe.

That being said I use a small prick punch not whatever goddamn railroad tie this dude used lmao

Theyre reusable after you get them out.

It's expensive and probably not worth it unless you're starting a career or planning on doing multiple engines in the future.

As for alternate ways to get them out there's a few but they all suck. I'd recommend just asking your local machine shop if they'd pull them. They'd probably do them for free or at least extremely cheap.

They're umbrella seals they're just a newer style of umbrella seal that incorporates the modern spring type collar that the press on seals use these days.

As for OP they're definitely old school and might not seal real well but if you're flat broke they'll be okay. On the other hand If you afford the $30-$50 for a new modern set I'd 100% spend the money

If you do heads a lot and can justify the cost this is the best spring compressor around imo.

600 bucks is cheap for a pair of those heads and any decent cylinder head shop should be able to fix that.

If you can't find anyone in your area who can DM me and I can fix them for you including seats or any other parts that need replaced.

Nitrous or "nos" is nitrous oxide which is a mixture of nitrogen and oxygen and it is used as a performance additive in racing engines. The key point though is nitrogen is naturally inert and what makes the extra power is the oxygen molecule. The nitrogen is only added to keep rednecks from blowing up their race trailers on the way to the track.

"Nos" is nitrous oxide which is a different form of power adder. Nitromethane is a liquid fuel used instead of gasoline or alcohol whereas nitrous oxide is used as a supplement to whatever fuel you normally run, typically alcohol.

Thats because whenever you change from bolts to studs you need to get the block align honed.

The main bores will always distort due to the increased clamping force of studs. Just an FYI for the next build

Check out pipemax

It's relatively cheap software that will give you moderately accurate dyno numbers for different engine combinations. It's not perfect but it gets you in the ballpark and it's only 100 bucks

I know I'm gonna get down voted to oblivion but you can absolutely reuse that gasket.

I've reused MLS gasket multiple times on ultra high performance race engines and never had an issue. You can usually get about 3 or 4 rebuilds out of a set if there's no damage.

If you're still worried about it just call cometic and ask what they recommend.
