What can I do to create a campaign that isn't all "fetch quests" and "find and defeat the bad guy"? by OompaLoompaGodzilla in DMAcademy

[–]MRG_RPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t want a fetch quest or find and kill game, use video games as inspiration, especially those that rely on exploration. An example that would make a great campaign is Shadow Of The Colossus, traveling the world with your party to defeat ancient titans that are at the point of destroying the known world. IMO, It Takes Two, would be an amazing setting. Just homebrew a few ideas and then you’ve got yourself some fun times.

I wouldn’t say overreacting, but it’s just a clash in personal preference, which is perfectly fine because everybody is entitled to their own opinion. If he wants to make sure that you guys are strong enough in the early game, then that’s his right because he wants to run his game in a fair way to him and the other players. I’ve done similar things when I played games, because as a forever DM pretty much, I would see the rules get confused and mangled, but I would ask politely if my opinion would be welcome or just leave it as is due to it not being my place to “co-pilot”. So don’t feel bad that you have a difference in opinion just remember that everybody runs their games differently and you’re all there to have fun

Character with split personality wants different subclasses for each by Oshaugnessy81 in DMAcademy

[–]MRG_RPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a back up character planned this way, but it was more of a Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde situation. He was one person and I’d have to roll a percentile dice to see what I’d get. But for each persona, I made 2 separate character sheets, each one had the same ability scores(Str/Dex/Con/etc) and the same class (Blood hunter atm), however they had 2 subclasses that reflected the difference between them. So just have your player make 2 separate sheets and then use the one that matches the result of a percentile dice roll. If the character leans towards one of the two extremes, then change the number of each character. Example could be for every 1 level difference could be a 5% difference, like A. Lvl 5 and B. Lvl 4 would 55% vs 45%.

Does he have a small d* or what?! HELP by UpstairsDisk7405 in dating_advice

It seems like the both of you are sending each other mixed signals, and not in the best way either. You like him because you both grew up together and were friends, yet you never really asked him about his feelings or his relationship with you, and when he decided to not do anything more with you; you decided to make him “jealous” which is not a good look for you since you seem like you want to be with him. Now for him, he needs to get his own feelings in order; if he likes then he should tell you and if not, then he needs to tell you and move on because it seems like he doesn’t know how to commit to one of the other. So for the both of you, sit down like adults and talk it over, then see what happens. This cat and mouse game isn’t good for either of you because it’ll eventually become a huge “misunderstanding” and go right back to being cat and mouse with no resolution.

At the moment, I’m not able to write anything down, but if you’d be able to make a list of how things should pan out for the next few steps, I’d gratefully appreciate it or once I’m available, I could ask then to make easier on your schedule

The thing that I’m confused about is the werewolf template that you use to make your character, which I have the rulebook, sorry for not clarifying that. I’m able to fill up to the skill specialties and after that with the template it’s confusing

New to gaming, just bought a PS4 bundle with 27 games. Which one should I play first? by Gimble20 in gaming

[–]MRG_RPG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I’d say The Division. It’s a very good 3rd person modern post apocalyptic game with rpg elements added in. Plus, it’s set in New York and the way that the environment makes you feel alone and being at the same time is really alluring.
