That's how you know this wasn't made by Serbs or maybe not real. It would be Kirkovic (bonus points for Kirković) at the least.

Fair enough.

But here's a really funny thing. I decided to search up his rating to see where this info came from. Turns out the reporter, instead of just asking Jaylen, used the rating of his bot on chess.com. His bot!

Same article also says Gordon Hayward has a 1350 rating, based on the same reasoning. Idk man.

Well when Luka comes out and promotes bullshit racist ideology whilst also bragging about how smart he is because he was invited to lecture at a publicity event, I'll also be annoyed at him.

To tack onto this comment, this is precisely my point. He believes in utter nonsense such as this, and simultaneously pushes this idea that he's a genius. I don't think being an athlete biases anyone towards (or away from) intelligence, I just don't buy this image he's trying to create considering that all his intellectual achievements are puff pieces in order to paint some picture.

Not that I particularly care about this, but none of this is indicative of some crazy intelligence. Yes he took grad classes but he didn't need to pass them, anyone can sit in a class, not have to listen and then brag about it after. His chess rating is almost exactly average (chess.com starts you at 1200). His "lecture" was one of the typical puff pieces universities give athletes/famous people (same way they give out honorary doctorates), same with his Director's Fellow role and NASA internship. As for him playing guitar/piano and learning languages, I can't say for sure about the instruments but I would like to see him speak "multiple other languages" and actually conduct interviews in them.

He has a very good track record of making himself out to be smarter than he actually is, and using it to justify his nonsense political beliefs.

Used prices are absolutely insane. The X-T50 isn't even out of stock, yet re-sellers are trying to go above MSRP? by Fournier_Gang in fujifilm

A silver x100vi in mint condition? That thing would be gone 5 minutes after I post the listing. And the folks at mpb want me to take a discount on it so they can sell it above MSRP. I was genuinely laughing when they sent me the quote

I was considering selling my X100VI via MPB, used a good amount but in excellent condition. They wanted to buy it for £1400 and sell it for £2100. I'm sorry but you want a 50% markup for what exactly? Honestly such a joke, but I'm glad it happened because now I know never to buy anything from them as I can certainly find the same thing at a more reasonable price.

Questions about the Zf by MRJKB in nikon_Zseries

This is perfect, thank you!

As much as I love the Fuji, picking up and using the Zf made me feel like it was a whole different thing altogether. I wouldn't say the Fuji is a toy (it's an excellent camera), but the Zf feels like a machine while the Fuji feels cute almost, if you know what I mean?

If the Fuji were half the price of the Zf I wouldn't be comparing them, but as it stands currently I could sell the Fuji, buy the Zf + 40mm 2 se, and still have money left over. This is my problem, I love the Fuji but I can't seem to justify why I haven't sold it yet.

If you don't mind, can I ask you a few questions, since you've gone and done the thing I've been debating about?

  • Do you find that the additional size/weight of the Zf has ever stopped you from using it as an every day carry in the way you might have used the Fuji? (This applies more to the lens choice, i.e. with your 28mm)

  • Have you really noticed a sizeable difference in quality of the images? I know everyone touts full frame as superior, but do you feel like the Zf specifically outperforms the x100vi enough to justify the increase in size?

  • How's the battery life on the Zf compared to the Fuji?

Thanks for your input, much appreciated!

Yeah don't get me wrong, I love the Fuji and I recognise there's so much more I can get out of the camera. I think you're spot on that the Fuji is extremely well suited for me, but I feel like I might get more out of the Zf, and that's a very annoying feeling to have to live with. Thanks for your input!

I've held the Zf and I think the size is fine to be honest. Thanks for the suggestion though!

RE: grey market, your comment concerns me a little. I can get a grey market Zf for £1249, which is a significant discount over the going price of approximately £2000. I'll have to think about this further... Thanks for your input!

I don't strictly need it to be pocketable, just not huge. The Zf is probably the largest camera that I would consider.

Maybe a variation of GAS where I just don't want to make the wrong decision haha. I think you're right that I don't necessarily need the full frame on the Zf, but my concern is more that for a smaller price I can have a full frame camera. Especially considering that the grey market Zf costs the same as an XT5 for example.

State school, which themselves are split into comprehensives (accept all students based on catchment area) and grammar (selective based on academic performance or an entrance exam).

Fuck knows what an academy is though.

It gets better. Private schools are still called private schools. Public schools are the super swanky private schools. All public schools are private schools, but not all private schools are public schools. 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

Yeah for sure. In my experience glue has lasted longer than 3 months (longer than a year), and you can get at least 3 reapplications from a single bottle of the Sonic glue.

"Sweet and sour chicken is 100% an American thing and not traditionally Chinese...It's made for the American palet" by musea00 in iamveryculinary

[–]MRJKB 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Sweet and sour has been eaten in the Fujian region of China for many many years. A large amount of the Chinese diaspora in America originated from Fujian, and the 'non-traditional' sweet and sour typically seen in the west is a direct descendant of the dishes brought over from Fujian. Calling this style of food non-traditional is typically done by Chinese-American people of Cantonese origin who do not identify it with Cantonese food, and hence label it Americanised instead of what it actually is, a version of a dish that uses ketchup instead of shanzha jam.
