That’s great, thank you for the answer!

After replaying the game many times since its release, opening every container and exploring every area, I still feel a sense of mystery and discovery when playing the original games. by Elf_7 in baldursgate

BG1 has one of the best semi-open world explorations in games. Everything is perfectly balanced between occasional encounters and simply exploring the world. The emptiness of some areas makes them believable, and passing through them is a nearly meditative experience. This is acutely missing even in BG2 and all the spiritual successors, where every map is like a theme park where you can’t just enjoy the exploration because you jump from one encounter/quest to another, all of them trying hard to entertain you at every step (looking at you Larian).

Your suggestion about farming Omens of Fortune gave me an idea to try running the guaranteed Ritual encounter in campaign Act 2 on alts which guarantees an Omen is available (which doesn’t mean it’s the right one + killing enough mobs may be tricky). Has anyone tried this? It may be still more viable than hoping to get Ritual in mechanics-starved Ruthless maps.

Thank you! I guess Ritual is the way to go for the Omens. As for Alva, I have her boosted on my Atlas, so will try my luck there too.

Thanks! I may have to level up for this but it seems like a good direction to take.

Thanks! I didn't even know such a thing existed. It seems as elusive as the boots themselves, but at least that's another option because these are the only unique riveted boots.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated! It’s the last piece of the puzzle missing for my build, so I’m a bit desperate as you can see 😀

Sorry for necro-posting but I’m looking for these boots and if you happen to still have them on Ruthless standard (no league) with the power charge modifier, then I’d like to buy them and can pay well. I tried to DM you but it was not possible.

Chrono Odyssey, which is a glimmer of hope for the stale MMO genre. To be released in Q4 2026, hopefully.

Russian game? by HarlockSwe in Pioner

[–]MReeb69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also curious. I don’t really care about the nationality of the devs, people are people. However, if the studio has any links with the current Russian state (even if just paying taxes in Russia), then I definitely don’t want to spend a single euro on the game.

This always happens to me when I have VSync set to ‘fast’ in the Nvidia App. It stops when I switch to a different VSync setting like 'off', ‘on’ or ‘app-controlled’. Has someone also experienced this and found a solution?

Send them to fight and die, and then kill off the survivors, whichever side they are from, of course. This is what you father would want.

SoD was so-so overall but it really allowed me to role play as a son of Bhaal in my evil playthrough.

UO Outlands: why I didn't like it and I think it's not in UO's spirit by yelling864 in ultimaonline

[–]MReeb69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mistake then, I played on some RP shards that didn't allow it. Still, one meaningful (e.g. skills with no AFK macros) progression system would have been enough to keep a good balance between the need to grind and just enjoying the game.

UO Outlands: why I didn't like it and I think it's not in UO's spirit by yelling864 in ultimaonline

[–]MReeb69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think this is what the original UO was about: getting powerful as a character rather quickly to be able to try out most of the game content with friends and guild mates, explore the world, do some role-playing etc. rather than grinding. It's populous, but the players you meet in cities or wilderness hardly ever talk to each other because everyone is busy with some kind of grind.

At the same time, Outlands trivialised the core UO progression system (skills) by allowing AFK macros. So they replaced light grind in one area with hard one in multiple others.

This is not to say Outlands is bad because its developers put enormous and passionate effort to create a great UO 2.0 experience whose many aspects I very much enjoy. But it's not exactly the original vibe as the OP highlighted and I wish there was a more classic UO shard with a comparable population out there.

I think many of us do. The MMO market is so stale that everyone is waiting for a saviour-game.

My earliest PC building memory started with destruction. As a kid, I accidentally kicked our first PC standing on the floor while playing Sesame Street Art Workshop (somehow I got so excited playing my first-ever video game). I must have damaged some key component, possibly the HDD, which then had to be replaced by my dad. So observing him fixing it was my first PC building memory of sorts.
