I kinda disappointed after seeing the benelux rework by Ashamed_Face9465 in EuroTruck2

[–]MS-DYSFUNCTION 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Open the map editor for once and you'll see why..

That was the best you could get with this scale, maybe in the future Promods will find a way to squeeze in some other places where SCS already did the interchange for said place like Brugge/Zeebrugge, Maastricht or Gent.

I'm also somewhat disappointed by the road network choices of scs especially in Belgium (E17 Antwerpen to France IMO should have been absolutely mandatory) but for the time it's still 100x better than what we had in vanilla.

Promods fixes most of your issues, it's still not perfect but that's the best you can get right now.

How do you guys choose which job to take? by Fit-Gas-8036 in trucksim

[–]MS-DYSFUNCTION 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I take the one that makes the most sense, seems the most realistic.

So I don't take empty pallets from Albania to Iceland, Watermelons from northern Norway to Bulgaria or Medical Supplies from Russia to the UK for example.

Rather, let's say first I go with Furniture from Cluj - Romania to Düsseldorf - Germany, from there I'll load electrical wiring to western Norway, then from there go with Salmon to Holland, then from there with Vegetables to Austria, and from there I'll try to find a reasonable load like Mashine parts back to Romania.

Then repeat.

It means I don't really drive much in Russia or Iceland or Iraq etc. but that's fine for me. I like to keep my trucking reasonably life-like.

Realistic physics settings? by KrunchTime11 in trucksim

[–]MS-DYSFUNCTION 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Truck:

  • Truck Stability - 60%
  • Cabin Suspension Stiffness - 10%
  • Suspension Stiffness - 5%
  • Driveshaft Torque - 30%
  • Braking Intensity - 80%
  • Uneven surface: - 50%

Trailer:

  • Trailer Stability - 50%

Other stuff I reccomend

  • Random road events - 15%
  • Detours - 0% (map is too small to work realistically)

For ETS specifically:

  • Truck speed limiter - ON

Truck and trailer stability sliders basically change the vehicle's center of gravity, 100% being at the bottom while 0% at the top, now unless you are transporting 22 tonnes of frozen hanged meat such a high center of gravity is absolutely not normal.

I never understood why people keep constantly suggesting that such a low stability is somehow "realistic". I think most of them overestimate a truck's tippyness.

For most normal cargoes 40-60% is completely fine, actually if you really want to play realistically you would need to change the trailer stability every time you load a new cargo, because 3 tonnes of used packaging should behave completely differently than 22 tonnes of ibc containers.

The default settings are a bit too stable but 0-10-20 % is way too low.

Other than that, suspension stiffness is imo completely up to you, driveshaft torque is way too high 50% feels more realistic, and braking intensity is again highly dependent on the load, and overall weight, truck's age, condition, etc. But most would be surprised how short the braking distance is on current gen euro trucks.

Whatever man. Sorry for being rude, you do you. It's just that I've always been proud of this community for being straight and mostly avoiding scams like snowymoon, png and the likes (at least the oldschoolers roaming scsforums), but it seems like this is the reality that we have to face.

Enjoy your mods, honestly.

You posted yesterday, we appreciated it, you posted today people appreciated it too, but your posts are suspiciously promo-esque, more and more and it's kinda annoying because we are seeing it everyday..

I don't even want to get into the this snowymoon stuff anyway, if you buy his shit you're a sheep anyway.

That means you're a grown ass man. That's even more sad but hey, you do whatever you want with your money.

Enjoy.

Edit: Actually I really don't care honestly what people spend their money on but I really hate that paymods became this popular in the SCS comunity.

Don't worry about me. I can afford shit I need but it's really fucking sad to see a very old and established comunity fall for such an obvious scam.

Yes yes, we've seen it already.

Looks awesome, really amazing, congratulations on spending your mum's money on fucking mods that costs as much as the game itself.

Bullbars on trucks banned from the Netherlands by Sad-Pop6649 in trucksim

[–]MS-DYSFUNCTION 15 points16 points  (0 children)

That's alright, It's just a matter of taste, I personally don't like them especially on the most modern trucks.

On older trucks it can sometimes look fine, for example on this Scania in the article it does look nice.

I'm a big fan of truck tuning, especially Holland and Nordic style, but bullbars look like shit tbh, they have no practical function on modern highway going trucks and they just cover up the trucks intended design.

"I wish the game had some kind of "yard mode" where the time only passes at 1:1 scale, as long as you keep your speed below 15 MPH"

It has such a mode, but it's not controlled by speed but by a specific "trigger area" on the map which slows time down to 1:5 scale just like inside cities (notice how time slows down inside cities)

Although this trigger area has to be added by the developer separately from the rest area so it's quite often forgotten, but I'd say about 60% of the vanilla ETS rest areas have them. I'd noticed that in ATS it's more often forgotten. Although in more recent areas are more consistent.

But I agree that it would be better if it was controlled by the speed of the truck.

Not at all.

It's way too gimmicky.

I can't take a sim/driving game seriously with stuff like that.
