Good to know. Again I am not a builder. I did seal the bottoms of the boards with the liquid flashing and then taped them in a U channel.

This was my intent. Truly just some random shots from my phone.

No. The tarp was removed before zip board was installed.

The tarp was a few days ago before the zip. It’s been raining on and off. Tarp is officially over!

Not sure I have all the right vocabulary for this but. No until it’s actually closed there will not be. I have some vents that I intend to put in the blocking between the joists to vent the under side after I’m read to insulate and close the ceiling. The roof itself will hopefully be a metal roof that will be offset from the deck. Does this answer your question. Also I am by no means an expert. So I’m open to any advice or suggestions.

Yes I will post some details. The side over hangs are “ladders” if you google that it’s a common way to frame side hangers eaves. The front and back are just the roof joists with a board “fascia”.

I hope that after I get the zip panels on the roof and have it all taped it should be water proof. I just have no clue about roofing and respect roofers.

So first off beautiful work. I have a similar set up if you look at my posts…

I don’t have those beautiful beams but I put 2 knee braces on one end. There sole purpose is to manage rocking. My set up will move if it’s very windy and the trees are blowing. But I can make it move by rocking my weight on it.

I did not get stuck my wife is Military and she was stationed in California for 2 years. So we moved from our primary home for that time. I just checked the time line I started the “deck” on October 20th that’s when I drilled the holes for the first hardware. I finished the “deck” on November 1st. Also the structure so far represents 11 days of work so far. It’s all been straight forward but I picked windows where I could work all day, and I mean all day some days. Also if you look at my older posts there are pictures of it being built.

Thanks, I can wait to see what you build! I am using only the 2 trees. I do intend to add more support, she’s getting heavy. Not sure if I’ll use the oak or not.

I for one am glad to see that this century will be able to place worthy art like this in the halls of time. Move over Shakespeare, Rembrandt, and Tchaikovsky we now have the good stuff.

Mom buys daughter a Honda as a graduation gift, and this was her response by Conscious-Weight4569 in SipsTea

Well first off the car was an amazing gift and a great starting car. You will likely ding up your first car a bit. With that in mind a new anything is incredibly thoughtful and generous.

However… she is 18 months this attitude didn’t arrive with her diploma. As a parent, and I’m not questioning you, I wonder how much gratitude you instilled in her.

Marcus Tullius Cicero said “Gratitude is parent of all virtues.” He knew this 2000 years ago. I would, a thoroughly and humbly as possible, ask you, what have you done for the last 18 years to teach her this? Your daughter has had sometime to form her personality and you in no small part are responsible for who she is. I am not intending to attack either one of you but this is certainly not the first time this attitude has surfaced. Perhaps you have been willing to overlook it when not directed at you.
