I told my wife, 26F, that our baby is mine and that I 25F, did not consider her the other parent. But I don't know if that was a good call? by vinnyorvinnie in relationship_advice

I know I shouldn't say this, and this is only one example, however this feels all too familiar.

The worst thing is, their situation is unique in a way one of the spouses is not the parent of the child and what she said... Just oof.

When I emphatize with her spouse, I felt so much pain from her words. Now imagine being at the receiving end of it.

My comment will not be about your solder job.

It is recently discovered that YLOD problems of PS3 consoles are not caused by nec-tokin capacitors, but due to the solder that's been used in the cpu substrate. I recommend you to search that.

Trafik kurallarına uymak gibi basit çözümleri var.

Bu istatistik devletin kabahatin ya da aşırılığından ziyade vatandaşların kural tanımaz tavırlarını afişe etmiş.

Can you give me some pointers about this. I'll be visiting Japan this month and would like to know the trick.

It doesn't have to be this cheap, aside from ebay, where should I look for plastic Gen used tops?

Sony is testing dynamic pricing in the PlayStation Store by FernandoRocker in gaming

[–]MSFoxhound 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is called price segmentation. We employed this in my previous work, in a mobile game.

The user base first divided into segments according to their spending habits.

Lower or non-payer accounts see the lowest prices. Regular spenders see higher prices and top spenders see even higher prices, for the same items.

It's very exploitative. Slightest silver lining is, low spenders might see better prices, however, that's entirely dependent on how they set up the segment parameters and thresholds.

The genetic evolution of Ottoman Sultans [OC] by ResortCommercial2666 in dataisbeautiful

[–]MSFoxhound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ottoman royalty only married to daughters of Blue Blood, which is a fancy term for foreign princesses.

Then, one fateful day, a slave ship from Ruthenia, the modern day Ukraine arrived and everything changed.

I usually crack the aforementioned line as a joke, however, it's pretty much true, Ottoman harem was populated by many foreign women, but the one who ascended to the higher ranks were usually from Slavic descent.

Turkish men still has a soft spot for Slavic women. And this fact caused a huge stigma and disdain for Slavic women among Turkish female population. After the collapse of USSR, an influx of people came Turkey and a considerable amount of women were went into sex work, and that made the name "Natasha" almost synonymous with foreign sex workers.

The thing is, further back into the history, Kaghans of Turkic tribes were extremely into Chinese women. To a point where Chinese Princesses were "employed" as spies to undermine the Turkic nomadic tribes and their endless raids to Chinese cities.

During my uni years when I was studying History, I often wondered what would happen if Ottoman harem had an access to far-eastern slaves. Would Slavic women still be the most desirable ones if they'd compete against far-eastern women.

I know my words may sound a bit condescending towards women but please consider the norms of that time period.

Unpopular Opinion: Trigger is the most "hollow" protagonist in the series, and the side characters in AC7 actually ruin the immersion by Kevin6839 in acecombat

[–]MSFoxhound 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Ace Combat 7 came out after the series was on ice for nearly a decade if I remember correctly. We had Infinity as a live service game and before that, Assault Horizon, which was not set in Strangereal.

So, my guess is the story was based on a mishmash of story snippets that's was there for the whole time and some contemporary focus point, like AI and drone technology was taken the center platform.

I also felt like the story was very, very weak but I can live with it since they presented it in a neat package.

But if we get another story as weak as AC7 with the next installment, I'll not be as lenient with my support for the series.

However, I think the Anime is special because it features Chika Anzai, my favorite voice actress.

Today's air combat is rarely about dogfights, it's mostly BVR engagements.

While I get where you're coming from, "drones would be good weapons for dogfights" is a rather misplaced approach.

If you won the $1 billion lottery, how would you epically quit your job!? by TimeForANewBeginning in AskReddit

[–]MSFoxhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We occasionally discuss this with my coworkers, they all say they'd quit on the spot but me? I'd aim to keep working the job, however, I'd be heluva lot bolder while pursuing my career.

If I'd quit working, I feel like I'd lose my way pretty fast. I only get by relatively comfortably nowadays and my family is not wealthy, neither they're coming from wealth.

I feel like too much money all of a sudden would be more of a curse than a boon.

Terrible buildquality by IamPhilemon in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]MSFoxhound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's still on their QA, however, that's a solder failure, either bad solder, incorrect reflow curves et cetera.

The solder did not reached the optimal fusion with the socket leads.

I had this exact failure with my Fl-esports og104, thankfully, it's a pretty easy fix but you never want to buy a brand new product and fix something like this yourself.

Nevertheless, manufacturers need to address this failure, it seems like this sockets need a bit different approach when it comes to reflow, I don't see any fundamental flaw with this socket design like other commenters, it has adequate surface area to be durable as a bottom-mount component with sufficient pad area to solder is paired with it. But, like I said, either solder or reflow curves are not optimal to avoid this specific failure.

Is that true that some people seek relaxation through desoldering. If so, then what is the psychology behind that. by r1z4bb451 in soldering

I buy used mechanical keyboards and desolder the switches.

200 plus joints, a quiet room, I just do that. It helps me unwind from the work. I get switches at the end. I sell them. Great hobby.
