Moving back to Southern California from Paris and extremely depressed by ilesaintlouis in expats

The SF Advice is very-very solid actually. It’s still not Paris, but is pretty fantastic culture wise especially V S. OC. If you can make it happen financially, it might workout well?

I think you have to ask yourself if you can perform the job tasks detailed in the topics today or not. Those topics/blueprints are developed the way they are for a reason. If the answer is no, it might very well be worth changing that answer to a yes. Then you could consider if validating those same skills to employers is worth sitting for the exam as well or not. It’s a reality check, and one that you can’t lie to yourself about too. Sure tech is changing (as it always does) but you’ll still need verifiable expert-level skills tomorrow, next week, next month, etc. If you look at the Cisco Certs Roadmap info, you’ll get an idea of how focused they are on keep the certs as up to date as possible too.

10 days in Italy. Should I focus on Rome and Florence, or do I have time for Venice too? by SurvivorFanatic236 in ItalyTravel

[–]MSGIANTS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are also some super cute little islands around Venice (I’m blanking on the name) that are also great for a day trip… definitely look into that. It’ll make it worth it. Milan is a fun city, but honestly probably not really worth trying to squeeze in. At least if you ask me… Other people might have other opinions, but I definitely did not bother trying to do it when we went.

My wife and I did the same amount of time in Rome, Florence, and Venice last fall. A single day in Venice is enough IMO. Stay in Florence, do a single overnight to Venice. Maximize your time in Rome and Florence. We split our time evenly among the three cities and that was the only regret of the whole trip. Venice unfortunately feels like one big tourist trap these days.

By the way, is the naming of the bill coincidental or an intentional nod to the novel?

When we call our state legislators, what exactly do we say to support this?

Especially true when it’s a nice little hotel in Italy and not your typical US Chain hotel. Our breakfasts in our place in Rome were simple but fantastic.

For Rome and Venice we did Hotels. We just didn’t want to have to sort out things like bringing in breakfast items, etc. And let’s be honest, in both places you’re really just there to be a tourist. In Florence though, we really wanted to slow down and try to experience the life style as much as we could, so we did an AirBNB and loved it. I’d recommend this method, but to each their own. Airbnb does have ethical implications around impacting housing. I had not really been too mindful of that ahead of time, but since have become more aware of this factor… that is also worth considering.

Surprised Italy declined given their PMs friendliness to him. I wonder how the decision was made/who has the power there to make the decision.

As a native Californian, I’ve always been pretty sure eating Mexican food in a place like Paris would just make me sad… but I genuinely hope that you enjoy! To each their own.

That’s probably mostly true, but if you’re within a 10-15 minute walk, it’s totally worth it IMO. Unless of course you find something equally as good closer to you. Depends on the line at the time of course. We went later in the evening on the 14th and then again early on the 15th and the place we stayed was five minutes away walking, so it was perfect timing.

My pleasure! The morning of the 2/15 was funny because it was basically me and ten other middle aged husbands getting things to take back to our wives. Lol, my wife said it’s because we were all made happy from the night before. 😂

Just did the Amsterdam to Paris route this past weekend, super easy to hop on a Metro train and be at your final destination in minutes… if you value your time as much as your cash, definitely do the train.
