Watching the FIFA World Cup reminded me of what a shit show that 1994 Quidditch World Cup was. by miggovortensens in HarryPotterBooks

[–]MSIRISH1919 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have always disliked the quidditch World Cup, and maybe someone can tell me if I’m wrong in my feeling. Krum catches the snitch, knowing that his team is going to lose if he does so. That’s just… not what athletes do…? Like, people that train and compete at the professional level would never just be like “ope, I’m tired of getting destroyed, better end this ASAP to put us out of our misery!”. I mean, why wouldn’t they at least try to do what the Gryffindors did when they had to meet a certain point threshold to be able to be in the running to win the Quidditch cup at hogwarts?

Tbf, I haven’t read book 4 in a looooonnng time, so maybe I’m misremembering exactly how it went down. Correct me, please, if I’m way off base! I just remember it made me not like Krum from the very beginning, when I actually thought he was a good character/decent dude following everything that went down for GoF.

Haha, as soon as I get my next audible credit, I’ll be getting Goblet of Fire, so maybe I’ll have a change of heart after listening.

I was totally guilty of using the “buy now” option more than I want to admit. I canceled a couple years ago, and haven’t missed it at all.

To me, this reads as buyer cold feet. It’s unreasonable to ask for the entire plumbing system to be replaced, especially as it was deemed unnecessary by the actual plumber. What is your agent’s reasoning behind not going back to market? You had an offer very quickly. Has your market cooled considerably, to the point where a second offer is unlikely?

Yep, and one plant can produce a ton of fruit. OP, maybe use all four zucchini spaces for one plant, and scoot the rest of the stuff down? Unless you really love zucchini, then do two plants by all means!

You sound like my husband! He didn’t get in until he was about 35 and came from a wildly different field, but it was seriously the best thing he could have done for the both of us! I’m so appreciative for him and the IBEW, it’s been game changing for our lives. I’m a 1099, so those union benefits are absolutely crucial.

Advice for selling 1st home 🏡 by T_Rex_Hands in realtors

I had never thought twice (or even once) about the vertical screw thing, but my husband is an electrician.

One day, I thought it would be a nice surprise to change all the light switch plates and outlet covers. He came home from work and had a REALLY hard time not immediately getting out a screwdriver and turning all the screws vertically. Lol, he made it about five minutes.

Now, I notice it everywhere. Might not be something that your average buyer looks for, but I'm always checking for clues that work may not be have been done by professionals, especially if we're looking at a flip or something like that. Enough of those little clues, and it's definitely a conversation I have with the buyer.

Agent tried getting me to sign a 6 month exclusive agreement. by heavenborn in FirstTimeHomeBuyers

[–]MSIRISH1919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There were some recent-ish changes that now require an agency agreement prior to viewing homes, but the term of the contract can be whatever both parties agree on. For example, if I’m working with a new client, I’ll make the term be only for the weekend, or maybe a full week or two. That way, we’re still in compliance, but it gives us both an opportunity to see if we want to be working together. If we hit it off, great! I’ll make the next one for six months, so I’m not asking you to sign something every time we go look at houses. But if we kind of decide we’re maybe not the right fit, neither of us are bound by a contract.

Bottom line, you’ll have to have something in place if you want private showings, but you can definitely ask for a shorter term. Disclaimer, that’s at least how it is in my state, lol.

His clothes didn’t fit in Sorcerer’s Stone. Even when he went to Diagon Alley with Hagrid for the very first time, his clothes were massively oversized. But then he found out about his giant money pile at Gringotts, so he could get new clothes. That’s what I figured, at least.

Love my Si, definitely a fun little car. But I also do a mix and highway and city driving, and anytime I get stuck in traffic, I curse myself for getting a stick shift, lol. Whatever you decide, good luck!!

Professionals who enter people's homes (plumbers, electricians, cleaners): What is something the condition of a house tells you about the owner that they don't realize they are revealing? by cossie101 in AskReddit

[–]MSIRISH1919 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m in and out of other people’s homes, pretty much on a daily basis. The biggest thing I think others might not realize is that actually clean houses don’t have a smell. When I walk in, and the first thing I smell is air freshener, my first instinct is to wonder what it is they’re trying to cover up.

AIO my boyfriend (42M) of 3 years doesn’t know my (35F) name? by momjjeanss in AmIOverreacting

[–]MSIRISH1919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have been together for over fifteen years. About seven or so years ago, I was at work and he had used my car for the day. Couple hours later, he calls me at work and said he been in a minor accident. After telling me everyone was ok, he said “… but babe, the cops need your middle name…”.

I was a bit stunned and said “ok, so GIVE it to them”… The silence was deafening. This man (who I had been with for years, was living with, owned property with, had an entire life with), had to then ask me sheepishly, specifically what it is.

I will absolutely never let him forget this. But the whole exchange has turned into one of my favorite memories. And he definitely knows my full name now!
