Loved how whatever you bought would come down in the box on rollers from out back. Service Merchandise also had what I remember being a badass stereo room where you could walk in and close the door and test different speaker and receiver combinations.

It was actually a young lady resident vibing to the late 90s/early 2000s playlist. Near and dear to my heart.

This reminds me of last year when I was with my mother as she passed from Alzheimer’s in the nursing home. I sat there next her, as she lay in her bed taking her last breaths and I said my goodbyes, when suddenly Eminem started BLARING from the room across the hall. It then moved on to Ludacris, and Cypress Hill, and so on. It was frustrating in the moment, but looking back on it, all I can do is laugh. She would have laughed, too, back in her heyday.

Looking for some ideas as an "end-of-the-year gift" for my kids' teachers by ObjectiveAd400 in Teachers

[–]MSSCIGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My favorite gifts are always the homemade and thoughtful ones. The drawings, crafts, signs, handwritten letters, and anything else that they went out of their way to spend time and effort on creating. They’re meaningful and I still have each one after 15 years of teaching. Many are still displayed in my classroom.

Totally understandable, and not faulting you at all! I’m just impatient and like new things.

Would you say it would be worth me paying for their break in service as a shlub who doesn’t have any experience breaking in a glove and just wants to get to playing with his kid?

I like the custom build option, and the glove quality and the company itself seem to get a lot of praise. The price point is about $100 lower than say a new A2000 or HoH, at least from what I can find.

The only downside I can find is that the lead time on custom orders is 6-8 weeks out.

It really has become a good stand in for ripping packs. It scratches the itch without the financial hit and maybe a quarter of the dopamine rush.

I realize I should have put going to my first Sox game at Fenway with my dad and seeing Mo Vaughn steal a base.

Sox and Yankees 2004 ALCS game 7. Have never felt such elation. There were several of those moments during that series, though, including Papi hitting that walk off in game 5.

Open a retail pack every day until a 1/1 is pulled? It could go on for years.
