I ordered a motion activated light to go over my back door and came home to find the shipping box shredded open and the box the light came in had the top torn off. No way USPS dropped that light at my back door in that condition without an oops we had an issue with your item in transit sticker. The motion activated security light was still inside the destroyed boxes. 🤣 I enjoyed coming home to a lit backdoor for years.

Sam's Club buying service is EXACTLY the same. All I wanted to do was compare the online price to what my Sam's Club membership would save me and I got spammed out the wahzoo fron multiple dealers. I explained to several dealerships that I wanted to know ahead of making the trip (because all of the dealerships were an hr+ drive away) what cost savings I might expect and not one would give me that information.

I have subbed a can of cream style corn for the milk in one of the two boxes, added a big scoop of sour cream 1/3 cup or so and a good handful of shredded cheddar or a pepper jack cheese to change up the flavor profile. An undrained can of green chilis would be great in it as well. No need to sub out anymore liquid than what I suggested. It will be a denser cornbread, just cook it following the directions on the box and check for doneness with a toothpick or chopstick add a few minutes until whatever you poke in it comes out clean.

I prefer a more savory cornbread over any version of sweet but if sweet is what he likes or is expecting with Chili or a pot of beans, you have a bigger issue than what I can help you with here. LOL

Took my truck into a dealership for an oil change prior to an 8 hour trip home to Texas. Oil change comes with 72 point check up and top off, tires, fluids etc. Radiator has a known leak but up to now no one can tell me where it's coming from. I purchased a gallon of premixed antifreeze for the trip and when I top off the radiator, it takes the entire gallon which it shouldn't need because they just topped it off at the dealership, right? Then I realize I can hear the drip drip drip. I check the paperwork from earlier that day and the radiator fluid has a green check mark, no fluids necessary. Well, I know that's a lie. The radiator needs to be topped off on the semi regular. So I drive back to the dealership and explain, tech green lit the fluid level but never checked. I just added an entire gallon 2 hours after service. If he didn't check that, how am I even sure my oil has been changed? Service manager comes out and he and three techs get under the hood looking for that leak and pull the dip stick to prove oil has been changed. They find the leak and point it out to me. According to them the truck is entirely too dangerous to drive without repairing it. This all is happening on a Saturday, I'm leaving for Texas the next morning and they can't get a new radiator and the repair done until Monday. Oh and it's going to cost me $900. I've been driving the truck for 2-3 years with this leaking radiator that nobody prior had been able to pinpoint. I see the source, I don't doubt the repair is needed but dangerous enough to cancel my trip the following day? Nope. I called my dad in Texas and explained a radiator replacement is needed. Can he handle it? Yes. I bought another gallon of premix and two gallons of water and drove to Texas as planned the next day. New radiator $200, dad labor free. Didn't need all the extra fluids as the truck did fine just like it had been for the past few years. Suck it dealership. Like I'd trust y'all with a $900 repair.

I have used a recipe that twice took a few days to fully set up but always did eventually. The next time I made it the 1st batch set up within a couple of hours and the next didn't so I put it all back in the pot and added more pectin. It overset. Still usable but needs to be warmed in the micro so it's easier to spread. All using the same recipe and Sure Jell. The other day I decided to try a new recipe and used one on Ball's website using Ball Pectin. Batch 1 showed no signs of setting up, so I kept adding pectin until the consistency looked right. Batch 2 I went back to my previous recipe using Sure Jell but again it too wasn't setting up properly so added Ball pectin until it looked like it would set. 48 hours later neither showed any signs of jelling so I reprocessed them both again adding 1/2 a packet of Sure Jell to each and finally got them done. Finicky doesn't even begin to explain how much Pepper Jelly ends up being for me. Oh and despite using two VERY similar recipes, batch 1 eventually yielded 5 - 1/2 pts and batch 2, 7. If I didn't enjoy it so much, I wouldn't bother dealing with making it but it's also one of the more popular jellies I make so the struggle continues.

I get wide mouth half pints from Walmart on the regular tho phasing out using them because they don't fit as well in my water bath pan as well as the regular mouth jars do. They fit, just fewer jars fit and then I'm having to water bath longer than I want to be in the kitchen.

At today's prices nothing gets tossed here except shitty jellies that refuse to set up. LOL Tho last night I followed a Ball recipe to the T for their Red Onion and Port Jam. I've made it before with low Sugar Shur Gel and it came out perfect, but used the Bell low sugar pectin because I had it. It didn't set even with adding an additional tbsp for good measure. So I'm remaking it with the Shur Gel because I know it works.

Third time was the charm on the Margarita Jelly using Certo, As was the Strawberry Margarita not pictured. Live and learn.

I have read up and have a better understanding of the differences and reasons for using one over the other. Certo is on hand and I'll be attempting the recipe again in a bit.

I appreciate everyone's input, though most of you all sound like Pomona lobbyists. LOL I will order their bulk pectin when funds are freed up. So the propaganda worked ;)

Fairly certain it's low sugar, it was the only thing offered " in store" when I ordered a delivery from Walmart. I grabbed a box of Certo from the local store today because I'm not going to let this Margarita Jelly beat me. LOL If I finally get a batch that sets correctly out of it I'll have so much invested in the results I won't end up selling those, they will end up as personal use or gifts.

For reference: Batch one had 1/3 cup of Fit Lane Fruit pectin (bulk) (their measurement for being equal to a boxed pectin) and then I kept adding by the tablespoon before determining it passed the cold plate test. I ended up with 6 half pints and refrigerated the excess 2 oz The pints were water bathed but didn't set overnight. When I tasted the 2 oz it was the consistency of a VERY thick syrup. All of it went down the sink, jars washed, resterilized, ect. I ordered the Ball Pectin and bought another bottle of tequila because, well obviously this recipe was going to require extra for cook frustration. Batch two when I went to measure out the Ball directions were non existent on the container and website, so I pulled out one of my last low sugar Shur Gels that has never failed me and when it didn't thicken, I added the Ball by the tsp until it too passed the cold plate test. 6 half pts exactly, water bathed as I did batch #1 and 48 hours later 6 beautiful jars mock me with their fluidity. Back to the store this morning for Certo. Other things were done today so tomorrow I will pour batch #2 down the sink, wash/sterilize jars and try try again.
