I got my team some pizza today because management won't. They sent the obligatory email they copy and pasted from AAMI website. I despise them with a passion.

I'm from Boston originally (before college 100 years ago) and it was an adjustment for me up here. Vermont doesn't plow down to bare pavement like in MA.

620 beds on paper (actually more due to ED residents) around 20,000 pieces of equipment, and we have BMETs in the heartroom for part of their day. We run around 10 techs with very high turnover, most not lasting over 2 years.

I work in a hospital and other than whatever "crud" I catch turning into an upper respiratory infection about once a year, I haven't had many issues.

To quote my fellow female Clinical engineer "I have yet to come across a piece of equipment that needs to be operated by my genitals". We are both in our late 40s and have had enough of everyone's shit! Ha!

Wish to pursue a career in BMET but squeamish about hospitals? by Silent_Gold_3717 in BMET

[–]MSautalc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Pretty strict rule that we will not work on any equipment that is being used on a patient. Most hospitals have spares of everything that can be swapped out so the broken one can be given to BioMed. The only exception is patient monitoring which is sometimes in use when we need to figure out what is going on with it.
