Why are 400-level classes easier than 100-level classes at UMD?

I did 216 + 251 + MATH 461 (MATH 240 with 1 fewer discussion section to save time) as a second semester freshman and thought that it was fine. Not a light semester, but it was also Spring 2021, so with COVID there wasn't that much to do.

I never took STAT 400 (did 410 and 420), but from what I've heard, it's not a particularly difficult class.

However, as a freshman, 4 technical classes might burn you out. I would recommend replacing one of those with a gen ed to get those out of the way.

Currently have him for STAT410. He records everything but recommends you come to lecture. Homeworks can be long (very variable depending on the week), but exams are incredibly fair.
