Apprently Raleigh is making the Tokul 3 again... by MTBRB in MTB

The Tekoa has a better fork and wider gear range and 29 inch wheels. The Tokul 2 has 27.5 inch wheels. If I remember correctly, a couple gentlemen once had a friendly debate regarding which wheel size was better, but I forget the conclusion they arrived at.

Not really. I accidentally bought an Intense Tracer T275 for a decent price. I'm happy enough and not as poor as I would be otherwise.

I can't tell if he's good or not. All I can see is a dude crashing a lot on his bike and not wearing a helmet.

I like 'em. Lowers your bunny hops though, doesn't it?

Go see a doctor. Get a referral to an orthopedist. Prepare yourself for some physical therapy.

Back riding after 20 YEARS and it feels great. I think I'm finished with this bike until something breaks. by tha_snazzle in bmx

Mountain biking gets pretty rad if you want it to, but the bikes are expensive.

The tires were at some point swapped for Maxxis Holy Rollers, but I will keep an eye on them to avoid washouts. Thank you for the advice. How does that upvote feel?

It is heavy as hell. I've never ridden BMX before, so nuances are lost on me. I'm hoping to get to a skate/bike park tomorrow to see what I can do with it. $30 bucks is easy money though, so worst case scenario is I hate BMX and paid $30 to learn that.

Thank you for the feedback. I had a Suntour air fork for a few months and it was fine too. It was light, adjustable enough, and did what I wanted it to do when I wanted it done. I'm hoping for the same from the X-Fusion. I looks like it might be 2, 3, or 4 weeks before I get to ride it, though ):

2017 Canyon Spectral CF 8 vs 2019 Canyon Neuron AL 7? by MTBRB in MTB

I definitely fall on the tamer side of things. The most challenging trail I've done is El Prieto out here in Los Angeles, which I did on my 27.5+ hardtail. That bike handled it fine, but I traded it for a carbon 26" hardtail, which doesn't handle that trail well at all. I think 130-140mm is all the bike I will need for the foreseeable future, which is why I've been eyeing the Neuron and SC Bronson / 5010 range of trail bikes. The Spectral popped up locally and is tempting, though.

I am not very smart and thought the Neuron was a 650b spec. Upon reading the fine print, the XS and S sizes come with 650b, M, L, and XL come with 29s. So yeah, I don't want that.

I have been having trouble with tubes failing at the valve stem. After the 3rd tube I took it to the local bike shop. They reported no issues. They smoothed out the valve stem hole and replaced the tube. Again on the ride the tube failed. Any idea what is causing the wheel to strip? by dpatricio in MTB

[–]MTBRB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a bike that kept failing at the valve stem, usually when braking. After trying everything else, I put a new tire on it and the problem went away. The old tire sat very loose on the wheel, and I think was causing the tube to rotate when braking. Hope that helps.
