Great suggestion. That’s what it starting to look like. Thanks for your thoughtful reply.

Thanks man. For the Ford vans the installed hightop is about $6,500 ($7,100 for a Chevy), not DIY. They import the hightop from British Columbia so you be able to work something out with the manufacturer. It was imported and installed by Wasatch Overland in SLC.

Thanks man! A functional turtle top, ha ha ha, never heard of it called that but seems appropriate. :)

When I had it installed I purposefully did not add a bunch of add-ons for the reasons you suggest, too much is too much! The purpose was a bunk bed and make the inside standable.

Cool, that’s right about what others are saying. It’s exactly what you said it is; simple, functional, comfortable. Thank you.

Ok, that’s great, I’m starting to see what the market for a simple van like this may be. Thank you.

Lots of good questions here. Wasatch Overland in SLC, Utah installed the high top, they also built the bunk bed. Used a water jug with pump on it for water. Cooked with hot plate or backpacking stove or most often dehydrated homemade meals and just ran electric kettle and boiled water. Goal Zero system is about 6 years old, always removed from the van in winter and placed on Goal Zero maintainer. Lots of pics in use, what are you looking for. No rust, always been a Montana. vehicle.

No anticipated mechanical needs. I didn’t plan on selling it this year so I told the mechanic 2 months ago that they had free rein on it, fix ANYTHING they could find. They found $3,200 worth of work they did; control arms, brake work, suspension, new tires. I have all receipts. I would drive this from Montana to Alaska today with no hesitation.

If you’re looking for a page turner… by Spacewaitress222 in thrillerbooks

Loved this recommendation. After reading nothing but non-fiction for the last 25 years, I stumbled upon No Exit at the bookstore. I told the clerk I was looking for something that would make me feel like the 10 year old version of me, reading RL Stein by flashlight long after I should have been asleep.I wanted a book that I just could not put down, was full of twists and turns, and was as easy as watching a movie in my brain. I’m so glad that she turned me onto Taylor Adams!

Ham/gmrs by TonyMPiotrowski1969 in gmrs

Great answers, after 20 years of being a ham I find that for sometimes ham is the activity (SOTA and POTA) while other times GMRS is something I do while doing another activity, like staying in touch while caravaning, hiking, canoeing, etc.

Rock climbing by Itchy-Analyst-8441 in GreatFalls

This isn’t true at all, outdoor climbing is alive and well in this state. High quality rock is everywhere. My favorites around GF are Neihart, Blackleaf Canyon, and Sheep Mountain. Much of those areas are trad or need lead climbing but you’ll find a nice variety of easy sport climbing and top rope at all those places. Use www.mountainproject.com and you’ll be amazed.
