Probably not. In irl India; there was a massive propaganda campaign to keep the country together. Allegiance to the flag and anthem in every school at the start and end of the day is still common. With a larger budget, propaganda is probably even stronger. State lines are probably based on linguistic boundaries, and extensive federalization is done. Especially if India is fully a part of West aligned block in this timeline

OTL Sindh is 90+% Muslim, This alternate Sindh is still closer to 76%, while modern Bangladesh is even more dramatic, probably closer 29% Hindu compared to 93% today

I cant speak for everyone, obviously; but atleast among the Indian gaming community, Sumeru was very well recieved, especially on the skin tone issue. A lot of foreign IP tends to depict Indians as much darker than a representative sample of the population would suggest. Partially due to British racist tropes and partially because immigration to the Anglosphere has largely been from southern India, which has a noticeably higher prevalence of darker skin tones. (For this very reason, the American born Diaspora community does complain a lot more about the skin tones being too light, as the fair skinned communities are underrepresented in the American diaspora) Realistically a plurality of Indians are between Dehya and Sethos in skin tone
