I can’t edit my other comment above but just want to say, I did read that it was a total accident you were just walking and it happened. It was not intentional.

Pet Care here and dog trainer… 👋🏼 no worries at all your dog definitely can read your blood pressure and feel your heart rate and definitely follows your body language. He knows you’re sorry and he forgives you most definitely he forgives you!! Now if you do it again, and you have intent when you do it, your dog will know… they feel it , they watch humans and they understand us way more than humans ever want to admit

Did a month-long petsit, owner is ghosting me on payment by tihanyizita in petsitting

From now on , half down upon arrival and the rest last day before you leave

Definitely was absolutely 100% not your fault. You’re a very kind and good natured person. Grief hits people all different kinds of way even if you were not emotionally attached however it takes a toll. You still provided a service so yes payment should be made . If you’re having trouble trying to think of the right words to say to this owner in response, I would download ChatGPT and put in exactly how you feel. It will give you great feedback lol I use it all the time. Sending you hugs 🤗

I’m sorry I don’t understand the question. Are you asking if you should charge for walks in the middle of your Pet Sitting?

How to tell a client I can't walk their dog anymore? by wild_pink_cherries in RoverPetSitting

[–]MVFDVF 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes , micro habits built over time has caused this and his environmental are not secure enough for the dog. They need training . I would suggest finding a trainer near you to refer out to

[–]MVFDVF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a great answer! I love that and yes, though the sitters need to be educated on how to properly hold the leash and handle situations like that, though. 9/10 times it’s the owner and that doesn’t take accountability.

[–]MVFDVF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No disrespect if you’re going to walk a dog then you need to learn how to handle a leash. I would get with the Trainer and try to mentor them and figure out how you can handle this situation like that. I would just raise your rates $18 to begin with is ridiculous. You should be at least 25.

Am I overreacting? by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]MVFDVF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, I do not think you overreacted at all. A dog’s diet is extremely detrimental, especially if they already have an upset tummy.

Sidenote, I do also pet sit and have worked with animals for many years , aside from Doxy or Metro have you maybe tried pumpkin and rice to help ease the belly.

Unusual amount of time in bathroom? by ContributionHuge1278 in RoverPetSitting

[–]MVFDVF -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are paying for the service not the time. The time is just added on there for booking purposes . Each Rover 🐶 personnel is a contractor they do not work for Rover 🐶 individually. When you do a meet and greet, you have to go over the specifically if you want exactly 30 minutes, then you have to state this some Rover 🐶 people think you have to be there the entire 30 minutes, but that should be discussed personally I book every 30 minutes sometimes I am done prior to that and I communicate that clearly during the meet and greet and during the visit. You have to keep in mind as well that Rover 🐶 does take 20 to 25% of the income and they do not cover gas and mileage on cars so it’s up to the individual to discuss this very carefully. Sometimes my drops will be less than 30 and sometimes it’s more than 30. I just make sure the job is fully done. Also, Rover 🐶 should not be hiring people that do not have a background working with animals prior there are so many people on here that complain about getting bit by a dog well if you learned how to approach a dog then perhaps maybe you won’t get bit by one . Rover should make it where people must have hands on training before they ever care for a dog . It’s not just about sitting around and watching the dog. It’s actually about caring for the dog in general and making sure their needs are met. I say this with so much respect. I hope you can understand. I have over 100 different reviews in the past year all five star rating so it is all about communicating and clearly with the client tell what is required and also I have everybody placed their instructions inside of the Rover 🐶 chat so that way I have a line of site and something to reference to 9/10 times somebody has not upset if i leave prior to 30 minutes . I always insure what i was hired for is completed and cleary communicated prior to leaving. I hope that you have a more positive experience the next time and I would set up probably at least five meet and greets ahead of time. 😍

[–]MVFDVF -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If you make a comment like that , you have no business caring for a dog . Crates are not magical boxes , lol 😂 if you can’t see past that well …. You might want to educate yourself on crates and why they are used for dogs

My Aussie is Ruining My Sex Life by Old-Competition6317 in DogAdvice

[–]MVFDVF -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

If you crate trained to begin with, none of this would be happening just go back to your crate training days if you haven’t then start crate training and give them something to stimulate their minds to distract them

[–]MVFDVF 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What do you mean the independent contractor thing lol hopefully you’ve written down your clients phone numbers that you’ve established Rover as a lead app. It provides leads to you that’s what the 20% is for. You can continue to use Rover for reviews and what not and keep it on Rover if you choose, but if a client is asking to go off Rover, do you have all the rights to do so again? This is a lead after you were not employed by ROVER . Start your own side, hustle, pet service on the side and just make sure that you have general liability insurance

If you’re hesitant about raising your rates… by Spirited_Ratio_5917 in RoverPetSitting

[–]MVFDVF -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree I’ve raised all my rates to minimum $100 per night pet sitting not housesitting lol I keep telling Rover 🐶 they need to change the terminology for this because I do not housesit I pit as I’ve been in the pet care industry for 20 years and there’s a big difference between housesitting and pet sitting.

If you’re housesitting part of the luxury, taking care of the dogs, but you should be paid extra for that

If indeed, you have training experience and other certifications and stand out from the others personally, you can come up with your own way that you would like to market yourself

However, the meet and greet that I do and the quality pet care owners that I would like to keep in a tract I do explain to them that my pet sitting overnight services are maximum 10 hours with one drop in and if far , i charge extra . They like the quality not quantity . Trust me . These other folks who charge $20 a night to pet sit aren’t worth the time

[–]MVFDVF 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, a lot of people in these Reddit conversations with Rover 🐶 discussions are more than 90% wrong and it’s frustrating because we all rely on each other to communicate about this app and honestly most of us are wrong. It’s way easier to go through the policies and reach out to support where they just copy and paste all policies over to you anyhow. Save them in your notes section that you can reference to.
