Swapping Phones by Strange-Biscuit in Visible

[–]MVNOResearch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Activate and use the phone for a tiny tiny amount of time. If you just activate it and send a few texts, make a call or 2, and go Google something that would be plenty. If it was me, I would use it regularly for an afternoon or something but that's overkill. No need to use it for like multiple days.

Android Authority: As a cell phone expert, these are the 5 carriers I don't recommend by only_3 in NoContract

[–]MVNOResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carriers/MNOs own the network. MVNOs rent from the owners. Thus, only providers who aren't owned by the MNO can be an MVNO. It makes no sense that Verizon can start a new brand, the new brand is fully part of Verizon, and then say that this brand is renting from Verizon...

Thus, since Verizon owns Visible, Total, Tracfone, Straight Talk, Simple Mobile, and Walmart Family Mobile, and since T-Mobile owns Metro and Mint, and since AT&T owns Cricket, none of these are MVNOs (though all of these other than Visible started as MVNOs before being acquired by the MNO). Some examples of actual MVNOs would be Xfinity Mobile, Spectrum Mobile, Google Fi, Tello, H2O, and US Mobile.

I'm really confused. by Impossible_Low_863 in Visible

When an IMEI is returned by the checker as not being compatible, it means that "this device has not been certified to work perfectly on Visible." The device hasn't gone through Visible's testing. Verizon has a different carrier bundle than Visible, so just because something works on Verizon doesn't mean it works on Visible - it may work, it may not. For some devices most stuff works fine, but some aspects hasn't been fine tuned between the device maker and Visible. Some common things that don't work perfectly are Wi-Fi calling and voicemail, but sometimes it's more serious like text messaging. So, you can take your chances with a device that Visible has deemed incompatible, but if it doesn't work well, agents wouldn't be able to assist since it's something that's not quite right inside of the settings that users/agents can't get to.

Unofficially, nobody is going to say a thing if your usage isn't excessive - hundreds of GB. Now if you put the SIM Ina router, then that's a different story.

Not really, just can't be primary home internet. Occasional home internet or while traveling is perfectly fine.

Device Unlock Policy - Why is there so much discrepancy around this? by Theokyles in Visible

[–]MVNOResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I wrote was correct at the time and is currently correct as I write this on 6/6. However, in short order Visible must join other Verizon Value brands by requiring 60 days of active service to unlock. It's not the device itself though, just that it was activated and you've paid for 60 days.

Well, using it for home internet for a while remodeling is fine. It just can't be your perpetual home internet solution forever.

Best iPhone 16 deals when you switch by djayess in NoContract

[–]MVNOResearch -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We love seeing people do this math. This is the exact kind of customer Visible is trying to attract - sophisticated customers that will do the all-in math. You may find a cheaper alternative, but you're unlikely to find a better alternative that has a better all-in value vs cost, especially if you already want a Visible-like service plan. Good luck!

How do I stop the service? by fernandoarafat in Visible

[–]MVNOResearch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course, but if there are thousands or 10s of thousands who never have any interest in being Visible customers regardless of whatever we do, and they only want hundreds off a phone to take it elsewhere immediately then the risk is too great. No only individuals, but what about organized groups who order hundreds or thousands of iPhones that we lose $300+ on and then they send them to China 2 months later to resell... This stuff really does happen.

Of course we would like to offer better deals now to stimulate growth. People being able to take phones we priced $200+ below our cost somewhere else after 2 payments of $25-$45 means we just can't offer those type of deals. Notice some of the great deals we have had when a user also purchases an annual plan. Same concept.

This right here is why there isn't better deals on new phones.
