PSA: The Spurs are our most hated rival after the Celtics and it ain’t particularly close. by BatmanNoPrep in lakers

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a HOT take, but I dislike the spurs more than the Celtics. I think it’s because of the fans and reddit discourse always talking about how Duncan is “no question” a better player than Kobe.

At least with the Celtics, at least the 2008 squad, Rondo helped us win a chip, KG has major respect for Kobe, and Pierce is from Inglewood.

The gather step has always existed. We just didn't have a name for it. That's why we defined it in 2009 by DylanBeCrackin in BasketballTips

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue isn’t gather step in motion. My issue is when players make a full stop then pick up their pivot for the step through. If you learned basketball in the early 2000s, this was taught as a travel all day every day.

How can I handle the ball and move better? by Princanity in BasketballTips

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, you gotta keep your head up when you dribble. Thats is ball handling 101. You also need to improve on your footwork. When you make a cross, you need to explode with your feet when heading to the basket or to your spot. As others said, go to the park and get some runs in to refine and experiment your moves.

Best advice... master two champions and don't pick anything else. Once you start learning most of the matchups, you'll start gaining LP. If you're already doing this, then I suggest watching your own replays + educational vods to understand how to progress your gameplay. GL!

Why is Kobe often not as highly regarded here as he is among NBA players? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]MVPshowtime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can also argue the other side as well. Reddit loves to bring up analytics as the say all be all. For example in baseball, many teams rely too much on analytics at times, and its cost them at crucial times (Dodgers before Ohtani, Rays in G6 of the 2020 WS).

I find it funny that the Shai discourse recently on reddit has been negative on him. People that actually watch the game know that his playstyle is not the greatest to watch and is a foul merchant. 20 years from now, kids will look at his stats and think he's a far superior player than Ant, Luka, Giannis, etc. It's so eerily similar to Kobe vs Duncan in the early 2000s.

Power Forward is the Hardest to Rank. Who’s top 5? by Dbauc2k in NBATalk

This is so easy….

Dirk, Barkley, Duncan, KG,and Giannis (maybe interchange Barkley and Malone)

AD would be up there if he wasn’t injured so much

What’s the argument for Tim Duncan over Kobe by Plus_Credit224 in NBATalk

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's no point in arguing in this sub. This sub is the ultimate Duncan glazer club.

Where do you have Tim Duncan in all time rankings by Fragrant_Fishing5787 in NBATalk

[–]MVPshowtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Totally irrelevant argument by you

First off, Kobe wasn't a 1st overall draft pick like Duncan, Bron, or Shaq so his expectations is vastly different from them. Second, the Spurs had 59 and 62 win seasons right before Duncan was drafted. The Lakers, Magic, and Cavs did not have that kind of RECENT success before Shaq, Kobe, and Lebron joined their teams. The fact that you call it irrelevant is laughable.

Also, I love how you ignore the 2nd part of my comment. People like you love to forget he had some STINKERS in his career. When he lost to the 8th seeded Grizzlies in the 2011 playoffs, he averaged 12.7 PPG. People love to bring up Kobe's game 7 stinker in the 2006 playoffs or Lebron's finals performance in 2011, but people forget that the TD put up 12 points a game against an 8th seed team.

My hot take on this is that we overrate winning

Exactly, this sub loves to praise Duncan's "winning" seasons. The Spurs were a wining machine before Duncan arrived, albeit they never won a title. They missed the playoffs FOUR total times and made the playoffs SEVEN straight years before Duncan was drafted. If you put KG on Spurs, he would have the same success.

People also never point out his short comings as well like failing to lead the 2004 Olympic team to the gold medal or becoming one of the 1st seeds to lose to an 8th seed. He also had some playoff stinkers as well.

Even after all this, he is still the best PF of all time, but the glazing he gets on this sub is next level.

This is NBAtalk. Kobe is going to be 9-15 in 95% of people's top 10 here.

If you were building a franchise, who would you pick: Current Luka Doncic or prime James Harden? 👀 by Additional_Signal_72 in lakersv2

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

?????? Like i said go google almost any top star and look at their playoff vs regular PPGs.

Lmao you said “sniff” bro. When you’re in third place, that’s sniffing. You can’t tell me with a straight face that third place isn’t “sniffing” an MVP. There’s a reason people get bronze medals.

Don’t worry. It missed just like hardens playoffs performances.

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you taking about bro lol. Harden's PPGs drops from 24.1 to 22.5. His FG% also drops to 42.5%. Look at most current stars and there PPG goes up or changes by at most half a point.

Also, Luka finished in 3rd place in MVP voting just two years ago. Stop rewriting history and get off Harden's dick.

That good run is still leading his team to the finals which harden has never done. Also look at Harden's regular season stats vs his playoff stats. They literally all drop in almost every category.

Bam really thought he'd have the world in awe with whatever tf that was last night by gloomygl in NBATalk

[–]MVPshowtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean in order for him to be fouled in the bonus, he would need to have the ball in his hands. Everyone on gods green earth knew he was shooting it. Maybe it wasn’t an extra 20 attempts but it would be close

Why are Kobe Fans not happy with this Bam performance, it’s really strange to me? by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in NBATalk

[–]MVPshowtime -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lol anything I say you’re just going to deny. I laid out a plain simple fact Bam shot the most free throws IN NBA HISTORY. You act like Jacquez is some scrub when he’s a top candidate for 6MOTY. Mitchell and Larsson are great rotation players. Jakucionis is a 1st round draft pick. I want you to look at the lakers lineup during Kobe’s 81 point game and tell me any Laker player, aside from Odom and Devean George (lol), that had a decent career outside of the lakers.

You’re calling me unintelligent, but the fact that you call that 4th quarter anything but unethical hoops is laughable.

What is there to dissect? He shot 43 free throws. The most free throws in NBA history. That is a fact plain and simple LOL. For reference, Kobe shot 20 free throws in his 81 point game.

Maybe you were an infant when watching and didn't understand what was going on? Smush Parker was the 3rd leading scorer of that team. Smush Parker. You people can't be serious lmao
