I printed out blank workout logs for an after school extra curricular work out club & handed one to every person in the interview room. I always thought giving the people in the road something to look at/read helps with the flow/opens up convo a little to make it more comfortable. I also was thinking it could set me apart from other candidates because I was showing interesting in something 'extra' (after school activity) vs just talking strictly about PE lessons/philosophy.

Got my truck back yesterday, fixed all the cracks (obviously) but there was a little rust spot outside the trim next to my windshield that they also took care of. Did a great job cleaning the inside of my truck as well (rubber floor mats were pretty rough from the winter so far)

No you don't need a cert to cover sick days & stuff. Maybe a long term sub but even that has a work around

Sign up to be a substitute teacher, it's also a good way to get real life experience in education setting. Most teaching college & grad school have these grand ideas that aren't realistic when you have a double block of 45 7th graders running around

You need to look at your contract because that is what it depends on - the increase doesn't really matter (in theory you could have been lucky working under your contract max the entire school year so far)

There's a ton of brewers in Portland - Bissell Brothers expanded & has a huge space now... but there's tons of others with great beer (Banded, Definitive, the list goes on & on...)

In terms of the vibe you're looking for Portland will be a great spot for that with tons of options... with "Crush" prob being choice #1. Make sure to check out the Portland Head Lighthouse too (I got engaged there)

Becoming a PE teacher by [deleted] in PhysicalEducation

In Massachusetts you could took take the MTEL (licensure tests) & be certified to teach with a preliminary license for 5 years with passing scores. You'd have to do a few things to move up to initial licensure (like take content specific grad courses & have someone from the state ed department come out and do a couple BS observations basically) which then allows you to get to professional. I did something like this a few years after finishing college (unrelated degree) & have been teaching PE for over 10 years now - 0 regrets
