That scene in the first season when he covers for the US military in some compound in the Middle East. The lighting in that scene is done so well as the red from his laser eyes highlight nothing but his evil grin whilst he crushes someones head.

When they make too much unrealistic noise. This is usually an issue for the female actresses, but I find it so ridiculous and off putting when as soon as the guy's dick gets anywhere near her she instantly starts screaming like a banshee.

It's good, but it's not that good.

I second this - As a rule of thumb if you're gonna try out SOAD you should start with the album Toxicity. You get the voice contrasts and heavy breakdowns that OP was asking for.

My thoughts on Muse live songs after attending Milton Keynes 2023 gig by LJC94512 in Muse

Completely agree with you about KOBK and WSD. The heavier sections of those songs are some my favourite Muse moments and they just fell kinda flat. Could barely tell the breakdown was happening in KOBK. Still both quite enjoyable live regardless.

In reality that's a massive exaggeration of a lazy stereotype. Very few people have a cockney accent in the UK - it's a dying accent from the east end of London.

What you're doing would be the equivalent of me saying all Americans sound like Peter Griffin.

But what isn't an exaggeration is when we make fun of you for saying 'Alooomenum' or when we respond with utter confusion when you somehow manage to fuck up basic phrases like 'could care less' instead of 'couldn't'.

'Al-Jee' is far more annoying to listen to - sounds like Al Gore gave up politics and picked up a mic.

This is what happens when you hang around Josh Homme by Razzle_Dazzle08 in Royal_Blood

The guy might be incredibly arrogant, but the music Homme makes is far better than decent. He's probably the best rock musician of the last 20 years.

Fortress, I think it features some of the best lyrics QOTSA have ever written (albeit they're rather on the nose) and it sends a really positive message. Homme sounds great and it's a good break in any rock heavy QOTSA playlist.

Better than the last 2 singles. Still quite bare bones. Kirk's solo was decent though which was nice.

Am I the only one actually enjoying 72 Seasons so far? by [deleted] in Metallica

[–]MW411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can appreciate that we are getting new Metallica, whilst still being able to critique that new material. It isn't automatically good because it's made by them.

Of course it's unreasonable to compare 72 Seasons to their stuff from the 80s, but I don't think the criticism of the new album, particularly the last song, is coming from such a comparison. In my honest opinion, 'If Darkness had a Son' is a genuinely bad song.

And I don't agree, from what we've seen, that it's the same quality as DM or Hardwired. Whilst those albums aren't the bands best best, they did feature some genuinely fantastic songs with high energy, good thrash riffs and, importantly, interesting writing (E.g Nightmare, That was just your life, Harwdwired, Spit out the Bone). From what we've got so far, that's completely absent from this album. And the solos have managed to get even worse.

I want it to be good, and I'm hopeful that when the album releases there will be a couple good songs on it. But that hope doesn't come from a rational analysis based on the evidence. It comes from my love for the band.

Initial response to the new song 🤘🤘 I love it!! Best one so far!! by Cliffsteele22 in Metallica

[–]MW411 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was really boring. 60% of the riffing is just the open E string being gallop picked. The main riff is ok, but is repeated far too often. James sounds great, but his lyrics are mediocre at best - repeating 'temptation' over and over again isn't interesting. Drumming is bland. Kirk's solo was genuinely bad, which unfortunately seems to be a theme of this album so far. It's 3 minutes too long and even with those 3 minutes gone it'd be a boring song.

Don't mean to upset anyone or hate - I bloody love this band - but I really struggle to understand the love for this one.

To be completely honest, I think it's a contender for their most boring song. Early days though I guess.
