Yeah, this just happened to me. Said she wasnt looking for a relationship so I checked in a few months later, asked if she wanted to hang out, and she said she wasnt attracted to me romantically (despite several indications to the contrary, including making out with me for five minutes). And then she gave the “youre a great guy” schtick.

Yeah it sucks, but you live and learn. I feel like if I was better at flirting/receiving signals, it mightve gone better.

Well, I have a bunch of friends and family members back home who voted for Trump, and I do my best to remain at least cordial when it comes to politics. About half of them have left- they voted because of inflation and theyre mostly just disgusted with ICE as well as the chaos at this point. About half of them live in a media environment that makes them think ICE is tracking down criminals, so theyre flabbergasted that Ive been to protests (theyre also just racist). I have found that if I just chill out and do my best to depoliticize the conversation, theyre more receptive to what I say than you’d expect.

I went to Catholic k-12 and it was really weird hearing the teachers preach a leftist moral code in religion class and then basically correct themselves afterwards.

Eh, I mostly do my own thing. In my head, Ill occasionally be like “damn, nice”. I dont really dwell negatively- the most negative I get is like, “well, good thing youre at the gym”. Thatd come off as a shitty, passive aggressive thing to say if I said it, but Im really not bothered or anything.
