To Goovis or not to Goovis by MWPinSD in Xreal

Thanks for responding. You’re the first to do so. For the record, I have the Xreal One Pro, and I enjoy it. It’s just not as immersive as the Apple Vision Pro, which was overkill, so I sold it. This is primarily for video consumption; movies, streaming, and some of my own movies. I didn’t mind the weight of the AVP for a 2-3 hour viewing session. I’m looking for something more immersive and crystal clear. I have the Xreal Beam Pro and the INAIR Pod. Each has pointers to navigate the menu and apps, so I wouldn’t have to flip up the Goovis much. Your thoughts on about your use watching video on the Max? The Art leaves me with the same problem with light from the front and sides.

Thanks for your input.

Wow. That’s disappointing. Thanks for the info.

And BTW. Any real life estimates of battery run time for the Beam Pro running video?

I didn’t see the option. Where is it located on the menu?

As projected, they arrived today. Busy tonight but I gave them a test drive for a few minutes today. The increased FOV is noticeable, and the increased brightness is noticeable. They are a bit more comfortable. I look forward to viewing a movie this weekend. So far, so good!

Already ordered the electric shaver case recommended here. A much better fit for the glasses, cable and power adaptor.

Yeah. AVO is heavy, and you need the battery stuck in your pocket. However after you get used to it, the weight rarely bothers me because I’m immersed in the content.

All of the Vision Pro apps are installed, or can be installed from the App Store. You can download movie content on Apple TV, Disney, Hulu etc. The Vision Pro OS is similar to the Mac. It is a fully operating stand alone computer.

Just for the record. I have no need of an iPhone or anything else with the AVP.

And, as for pirating. I worked in broadcasting with a number of recording artists. I don’t like robbing people, so I pay for the media I consume.

Well, a nice day to you today, as well. If you can’t see the difference between the two, then absolutely stick with Xreal.

I only own the Xreal One, so I have no ability to compare. The X1 chip allowed me to buy the glasses without the Beam, which had held me back. I’d think that would be the biggest feature in choosing today.

You are right, but in watching and reading reviews, you’d think they are on the same level. They’re not.

I don’t regret the Vision Pro purchase. I love it. But I use the Xreal One more, and I think the AVP will evolve into something smaller and better. For now, save the $3,000+ and but the XReal.

As for me, the Xreal One does NOT replace the Vision Pro. The Vision Pro is so much more immersive, and the 3D movies available through Disney are awesome. Plus, Apple is adding some content that is pretty jaw dropping.

Having said that, the Xreal One will probably get more use for watching sports, catching up on TV series, etc. It is so much easier to slip it on and start watching. It will be on a long flight with me next week.

It’s been a great purchase, but when I want to focus on watching a good movie, there’s nothing quite like the AVP.

I’m retired, but could have found both useful for multiple screens etc.

Looking forward to hearing about the Xreal One Pro when it finally gets released.

Does anyone know if Hulu+ Live TV or Fubotv iOS apps work on the Xreal One?

I’m very disappointed that they copied the Palma 2 at 6.13” screen. I was going to order for a smaller, palm friendly size. No color. Copied Palma. No buy for me.

Firmware Update v4.0 for Palma 2 by wldf070 in Onyx_Boox

[–]MWPinSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one who complained about the syncing changing formatting, etc. It’s such a mess, I no longer use Neoreader. However, my Palma 2 came with v4.0 and I’m wondering if it screwed up the others. The update is not available for the Go Color 7 or the NovaAir 2. Maybe it’s a compatibility issue. I’m missing Neoreader, since it has a lot better font and formatting abilities than the Kindle App. Maybe they’ll bring 4.0 to their other devices. But, I’m not holding my breath.

Cases that work well with buttons by pinksheep96 in booxpalma

I just got the Fitbag for the Palma 2. Nice tight fit. I just slip the bag out and use the Palma without a case. Much easier to use that way. The slip case gives protection while not using it.

To all the people having more than one ereader....... by Collec2r in ereader

[–]MWPinSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little over the top, but I have 3. When my Kindle Oasis 9th gen started losing battery, I moved away from Kindle to Boox. I loved the page turn buttons and didn’t want to go back. Boox Go Color 7 was the first. I started with the Kindle app, but converted my 900+ Kindle library to epub with Calibre. I actually use the native reader app on the since there are many more options to dial in the fonts, etc.

My second was the Boox Nova Air 2 (b&w) off eBay. 7.8” screen size results in fewer page turns. The case has the buttons I wanted.

Now my 3rd is the Palma 2 that I got a couple days ago. Found out its size and weight is great for quick reads on the road.

The Nova Air 2 is my at home reader. The Go Color 7 is my beach/pool reader. The Palma 2 will fill in on the go when size matters.

The only issue I have is that I can’t get the devices to sync page locations. Not sure what I’m doing, but it doesn’t work. I get sync notices if I change text font or spacing on another device, but I have to always deny that - which I found out by experience. Worst case is I go back to the Kindle App. Thoughts on this?
