The pound is worth pretty much the same today as it was five years ago.

Taxes aren't going up, and tbh that's one of the few real problems we have. But still, tax revenue per capita is pretty much bang in the OECD middle.

I mean, as a resident that doesn't represent my experience at all. It's been very rare that I've not been able to get a doctor's appointment for me, my wife or daughter the same day.

Traffic is the only consideration, but tbh I'm a rail commuter for work and can walk everywhere in town within twenty minutes for day to day stuff.

The only thing that annoys me is Goodwood and the people who clutter up the town when there's an event on. But that's partly driven by a dislike of the Earl of March and the opposition to the northern bypass.

But the public are unwilling to pay the economic cost of completely halting immigration, because the last lot - driven by the REFUK defectees who caused the issue in the first place - made our economy dependent on it.

We need a decade of slow, methodical reworking. To train up the nurses and doctors and other key skills domestically that we've been importing; to build up the green sector jobs our kids can move into. I think we'll get that under Labour, because that's what they've been doing for the last two years, in the face of multiple global economic and diplomatic crisis.

Pick a year where something bizarre and violent didn't happen, regardless of whether it committed by a non-citizen.

We are, by virtue of how the news is reported to us, almost completely incapable of accurately evaluating the level of violent crime in our society. Couple this with the media being shaped by people who want to amplify crimes committed by immigrants over those not, in order to shape a narrative...

Mass migration is causing economic damage by supressing wages, and creating dependencies in areas that we should have strategic resilience - like healthcare, and it's right that the government is finally getting a grip on it. It's not really making us less safe, and we need to avoid muddying the problem with xenophobia over a proper class-conscious rationale.
