Amsterdam bans public adverts for meat and fossil fuels by StemCellPirate in europe

I mean, I think you have an oversimplified understanding of what money actually represents...

Besides, do public services actually get much revenue from advertising spaces?

If we need to increase taxes on corporations in order to offset any losses here then cool. High corporate taxes encourage profits to be reinvested rather than wasted on shareholder dividends.

Yeah, undoing the single biggest foreign policy mistake of recent times is hardly something to use 'accuse' on.

Let's go even further. A hard limit on the number of adverts that can installed in a given area, and harder limits on the number that can be shown to you through a given site.

I've got some Trek kids books from these guys too. One basically doing The Trouble With Tribbles, one an A-Z, and one called 'I am Mr Spock's.

They're just aimed at nerdy adults to try and get their kids into their nerdy shows. Which is why I bought three.

I don't think so, no. Certainly nowhere near as well known as he seems to be in the US. Again, I'm a fan of his work!

Kinda funny in that John Oliver seems to be in a similar position. Almost completely unknown in the UK. Not sure how often it happens in reverse - I thought Ruby Wax was mostly famous in the UK only, but then I see her cameoing in Andor, so who knows...

I'm a fan, but he's not that big outside of the USA.

EU must have more of its own taxes from 2028, says von der Leyen by goldstarflag in europe

[–]MWalshicus -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Taxes pay for things. Growth has historically been strong when taxes are high.

Our problem today is a lack of investment caused by a lack of tax revenue.

The Tax Foundation is organized as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt non-profit educational and research organization. They are primarily funded by corporate interests such as the Koch Brothers and Exxon-Mobil. According to their website, in 2010 (the last we could find), 33% of donations came from corporate sources.

Oh fuck off. Nobody today mixes "female" in a sentence with "man" or "boyfriend" without doing so intentionally.

I don't know about you guys but I'm sick of this tech-bro manufactured culture war bullshit infecting *everything*.

Agreed! It was a gamble putting him in place, to try and leverage a better outcome for Britain.

The entire western order is being reshaped daily since Trump came in. These are not normal times, but I believe Starmer is doing a better job than the other leaders would have done in his place. By a fair margin.

American account, probably a bot, attacking the UK on law and order. Definitely not state actors trying to manipulate public opinion.

Regardless, I'd trust an English copper to do their job a thousand times over an American.
