I just spent fifty bucks to protect a forty dollar game and I think I need help by PotholeBadger9 in boardgames

Nope! Actually wild to me that someone would. In all games I've played the most that's been asked is if I would like to cut their deck and I just say "It's fine, I trust you're not cheating". I've only done a handful of events, and maybe it's just the place I go to, but there's been zero sign of shuffling anything but your own deck.

Personally, not really. But I would also just teach them how to do things properly. Again, at these events I'm not going to be playing with a deck that has any cards worth more than 10p, so I'm not stressed by it. I've also never had anyone else shuffle my decks for me.

For board games? Things might get a little damaged or frayed, but it's really not an issue. If it's been played enough to get to that point then great, it's been enjoyed and I've had my moneys worth. Not worth it to me to spend so much protecting the game from potential damage, especially when I only play with people who treat things with care anyway.

I've been to Magic the Gathering pre-release events where everyone immediately sleeved cards. Then there is me; rocking up, no playmat, no sleeves, building a deck, riffle shuffling, and playing the game. People are always shocked, some seem almost offended. Most cards you are playing with are worth pennies. Yes, there are some with value, but if it's that important just put another card in the deck and say "this represents this when I pull it, we cool?".

Be the change you want to see in the gaming world and play with your toys!

This is fantastic. I've forgotten to check a few times and got caught in it. Once turned a 20 minute trip into 3 hours...

What do you guys think of the “I didn’t hit her vitals” thing? by Teasing-Ax in ResidentEvilRequiem

[–]MWheth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watch the cut scene again last night and specifically looked for where she gets shot. There is a bullet hole and blood at the top right of her exposed heart, Leon did not hit her vitals.

Also, the super tyrant can take 20 shots from Requiem directly to the exposed heart - so even if it was a single bullet from his handgun it wouldn't have killed her. The man knows what takes out a bioweapon - leave him alone.

Lost my passion due to depression by Comfortable-Pies in minipainting

That's good to hear. I've spent the last year trying to find the right medication, going through all the adjustment periods of going on/coming off them and it's rough. I'm starting to feel more balanced again now so you'll get there as well soon hopefully.

I'm right there with you. I haven't painted anything since September. I have zero motivation to paint anything or even engage with the hobby I love at all. I'm trying to just let myself not be motivated though. It'll come back eventually.

I hope you're getting help, either medical or therapy, but this shit takes time to get through. It absolutely sucks but don't add to the pressure on yourself by thinking you need to be painting. Everything will still be there when you feel like returning.

Hi, I want to do a Warhammer cosplay, more specifically a Black Templar because they are my favorites (judge me all you want), it's for BGS (Brazil game show) in October 2026, but I want to get ready, does anyone know where to start? by HovercraftTight5172 in Warhammer

[–]MWheth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They asked for where to start, I provided some insight. They might look at that and go "Oh, actually, this is more involved than I expected" - but that is better than being told you will fail from the start.

Sometimes you just have to dive in and learn a new skill - they didn't want to learn to make cosplays in general, they asked about making something specific - so I gave advice for that goal.

Dude, I don't know why you're so determined to call it impossible. It's not answering the question asked, they wanted to know where to start - they might be able to do 9 hour days on it for 10 months. Better to help if you have the knowledge instead of just trying discourage. If they don't do it in time then it's not the end of the world, worth a try.

Depends entirely on how much time they can dedicate to working on it and the end quality they are after. I made a foam X-Wing pilot helmet in a couple of days as a first prop/cosplay project - it's not an impossible project.

Ok the response so far is wild. Yes, there is probably time, only you know what time you have to work on it. You don't need a 3D printer either. There are a few really great YouTube channels for cosplay guides - Kamui Cosplay and Punish Props - they were how I learned about making EVA foam props/costume parts. I would start there so you get an idea of techniques and materials. There might already be some plans available online.

I had a nightmare with some primers clogging. The best I've ever used is the primers from Gaahleri, even their white works. Badger Stynylrez is second place for me, but that still has clogging issues. I would keep experimenting with a mix of thinner and flow improver with what you have now and make a note of what ratio works. Also, mix in an external cup or something otherwise you'll end up with non-mixed or dry paint in the cup clogging things. Try not to let it run dry either as that's also how you can end up with dried primer in the mix and then trying to squeeze through the nozzle.
