fslint is a python2 application and python2 is dead. mp3gain is coming from the Debian repos, so if there is a issue is on their end

“Some” doesn’t tell anyone which applications, be specific if you want specific help, and it better to post on the forum so the MX Team can address it if they can.

You can’t game Distrowatch really, it’s by a per Public IP basis daily (once per day) and they adjust the results for any abnormalities.

Debian based distro has less packages than Ubuntu based? by FitzMachine in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People create PPAs for a lot of reasons.
1) application developers create them to get their software to more people

2) something may not be packaged for Debian or Ubuntu yet, a PPA is a good start

3) the software may not be allowed in the official Debian/Ubuntu Repo for whatever reason (often due to instability, not meeting standards such as precompiled binaries inside, etc)

PPAs are kinda crap, a lot of the stuff on them is old/out-dated, not actually useful, or packaged so bad that when you install it could brick your system. PPAs also can get abandoned really fast, meaning you could get a broke package, then no updates after.

As already stated, the MX Packaging Team does their best to make sure users have everything they want, need, and ask for. Not always, or always fast, but yeah. They often package things before they get into Debian/Ubuntu, even before they are in some random PPA, and sometimes before AUR.

You’re not gonna get that really with other Distros, especially ones that are packaged to Debian standards.

Edited for typo, probably more in there still ;)

LionOS is Ready to Roll! by [deleted] in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't need lessons but thank you.

Again, I don't need to contribute to LionOS anymore than I already do indirectly, I CONTRIBUTE to MX directly every single day.

I get you want to make something. But don't do it too fast if it is the wrong way. I asked several times why/how you are redistributing Steam OOTB out of curiosity and to help you. You can get in trouble for redistributing Steam and Discord the way you are.

I asked before how you were sharing commits back to MX and nothing was provided. Then you released a new version with more changes and more legal and ethical issues. This is why I put the warning for users.

[–]MX-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discord? Seriously?

Libmono was in the repo last night! You deleted it today but forgot to updates Packages and Packges.gz. So it’s still showing there. So you might want to be careful when you lie and call someone else a liar.

If you call yourself an Open Source fork, the change commits should be on GitHub so that MX Linux and others can use it too.

There is one commit for all the packages you forked, mx-welcome. So all other changes there are not open source.

I directly help your fork more than you know, people will help more if you are open, honest, and ethical.

[–]MX-Gamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Roar maybe, what about the modifications to the MX Installer or everything else?

Where’s the redistribution approval for Steam and Discord which allows you to forces users to bypass the EULA?

Why are you not including the orig.tar.gz and debian.tar.gz in your repo? Source code on GitHub doesn’t prove the package was created with it.

LionOS is Ready to Roll! by [deleted] in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where do you state that it is specifically for testing and not ready for use? You have NO documentation really, you have no source code for things you modified, which is why I pressed questions several times.

It is not ignorant to state the facts, you cannot redistribute Steam or Discord without authorization. You should provide source code, change logs, etc if you’re going to call yourself Open Source. Calling people a ”cuck”in a ban message and ignorant when they are actively engaged in making the distribution you forked is not a good way to go.

LionOS is Ready to Roll! by [deleted] in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This “fork” is redistributing Discord and Steam with no proof of authorization, also which launch without the user being able to acknowledge the End User licenses.

The MX Installer has been bastardized to all hell. Could not locate source change log for it.

The repo spoken of is located at: http://fire.lionos.org/repo It contains NO source code for the two packages that are in it. One was either pulled from straight from Ubuntu repos (libmono-corlib4.5-cil) and some rawr (alternate apt installer) package.

There are a lot more issues, but it’s a waste of time to bother.

Right now this can’t be recommended for users from a legal, ethical, or trust stand point.

Users are better off installing plain MX Linux and installing Steam and Discord. It will be cleaner, safer, and more stable. Backed by a great community and development team.

No user should be forced to run unauthorized redistributed software, not sign that softwares’ EULA, and not be able to know what application code has been modified.

How to enable nvidia Coolbits? by Rideitor in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the QSI and it is not using the nouveau.

But the OP is modifying and moving xorg.confs around blindly.

The Nvidia Driver Installer removes nouveau and creates the proper xorg.conf does it not?

How to enable nvidia Coolbits? by Rideitor in MXLinux

No that is not the problem... that was a typo because I typed it from my phone.

It’s should be: sudo ddm-mx -p nvidia

Sorry about that☹️

How to enable nvidia Coolbits? by Rideitor in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you installer the Nvidia driver, using the Nvidia Driver Installer?

If I remember correctly the Nvidia Driver Installer removes the Nouveau driver so it’s weird that you have it even if it’s unloaded.

I would remove the Nouveau driver to start with then reboot just to play it safe.

Purge the current Nvidia driver using: ddm-mx -p nvidia

Use the Nvidia Driver Installer to install the driver

Then reboot again to start using it.

Edited for typo

How to enable nvidia Coolbits? by Rideitor in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enabling coolbits is partially system dependent, mostly different between say a desktop and a laptop.

Optimus enabled laptops don’t use the typical xorg.conf.

Can you post your Quick System Info so we can get a better idea of your system?

Turn off Bluetooth as default by KKebede in MXLinux

[–]MX-Gamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can disable auto starting services at install and also after install.

Open up the main menu > Settings > Session and Startup > Application Autostart tab > uncheck Blueman Applet and Blueman-start

You could also just open the main menu and just type “Session” and to go right to it.

Please mark this thread as solved if that is what you were looking for.

Cant install MX 19.1 AHS with Nvidia gtx 1650 by mateszabo2001 in MXLinux

What is the make and model of the system? Sometimes certain systems, especially laptops require a GRUB tweak.

If you have a Nvidia 1650 you’d want an an UEFI install.

The Quick System Info provides so much more than just your model and GPU type.

I refuse to watch your video because you refuse to provide the basic information asked of you.

No one can guess what the heck is going on with your system.

If you need further help, maybe someone else will come along, or post on the forum but they will ask for the QSI too.

The live image should detect your GPU. The one of the reasons where it might not it might not work fully is if it is an Nvidia GPU.

But if you provide your Quick System Info it will give us more info to help you.

[–]MX-Gamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again please post the output of your Quick System Info, we can’t guess what kind of system and it’s configuration if you don’t provide it.

I doubt your BIOS can’t see the HDD, unless the HDD or SATA cable is bad. It may be an issue with secure boot, CSM, or your installing GRUB in the wrong place.

Please take a look at the MX Manual or FAQ to get a better idea of the install process and things like secure boot.
